Cheers, Dave & Carl -- I just checked and each of you are subscribed at some level. None of you have subscriptions turned off. This PM subscription excess problem began with the big hiccup three weeks ago. I can only suggest turning off your subscriptions (User CP, Edit Options, Do Not Subscribe, Save Changes), then turning it back on. For a fact I don't know if that will solve it. Otherwise the only option is turning it off until the coming upgrade. No date for that. Sorry.
I'd guess you might end up having to rebuild your subscriptions anyway when the upgrade does arrive.
It appears to be tricky to unsubscribe to e-mail notices. You can unsubscribe in bulk, but anytime I post on a new thread I've never been on before, boom, e-mail notices for that thread. Sometimes it seems ones I've unsubscribed to, once I post again, give me e-mail notices. Not entirely sure because I don't want to spend a lot of time dealing with this and life shouldn't be that difficult, but the e-mail notices feel like spam, something I have no shortage of. I liked life pre-hiccup.
If you don't want email notifications, then select subscribe without email notifications. Your other options are once daily and once weekly or do not subscribe at all.
There were some issues the last couple weeks with the mail server. They have been resolved in the last 24 hours and I just checked and it looks to be functioning properly.
I reset the e-mail notifications again for no e-mail notice.
I wish the default setting wasn't for daily e-mail notice. Everytime I post on a new (to me) thread, I then have to go and reset the notifications options. I would rather opt-in, not opt-out. It seemed to me that even opting out wasn't working for a while. I'll have to watch more closely so I'm sure of what I'm complaining about.
Gene, I just looked at your profile from our side of the house. It said 'Daily Email Notification.' I switched you to 'Do Not Subscribe.' Please post again if it keeps flipping you back on. Thanks
In the last few weeks, no threads I have posted on or started have been in the subscribed list. I thought it was automatic. Has there been another hiccup, or am I just losing it?

Gene, due to previous problems your status is still "Do not subscribe." You may change your forum options in your 'User CP' (control panel) at upper left.
Bob, I'm going around in circles on this. I have not found anything giving me a "subscribe" or "do not subscribe" option on the User CP page even after opening all the subscriptions. I set the subscriptions to no e-mails and any thing else I've done in the past couple of days just takes me to the same pages over and over. I guess I've lost it.
I was getting updated new subscriptions and no emails for a while. Can't I get new subscriptions without emails? I'd rather check the subscriptions page without more e-mails to supplement all my junk mail for fake Viagra, penny stocks and organ enhancement.

Gene -- go to your User CP. At left under Settings & Options, select Edit Options. In the Messaging & Notifications frame you are offered the chance to set your Default Thread Subscription Mode. You can choose do not subscribe, subscribe w/o emails, subscribe w instant emails (a bit intense), subscribe w daily emails, or subscribe w weekly emails. I believe subscribing would only occur with threads subscribed to after you change the setting.
The subscription feature is glitchy and will remain so until tech staff announces that the vBulletin upgrade is complete. That might be less than a month to more than two. Won't know it til we know it.
