Hello SwampBillies - Early this week we experienced an outage of emails coming from AIR Forums. It was fixed early Wednesday morning. You have set your profile to receive daily email notifications -- I don't know what time that daily notification is set to occur in your case.

FYI...
I have NEVER received an email notification for "Daily" subscriptions. I ALWAYS receive it for the "Instant" notification. Not a big deal, because I'm usually on daily and go directly to UserCP.

NEWSFLASH - THIS JUST IN....
Today (or was it tomorrow?), for the first time ever, I received multiple "Daily Notification" emails. One slight problem. They are dated tomorrow Thu, 24 Jan 2008 00:03:34
OK two small problems... They are dated tomorrow, and I've already read the updated postings I am being notified about. Me thinks someone is using transdimensional engineering to alter the space-time continuum.
...either that or someone is working on upgrading the software and/or working out some of the longstanding bugs.
Today I received 2 e-mails that I had been subscribed to 2 threads by someone else. Since I am not too good about reading instructions until I have to, I had to figure out what all this is about. I used "search" for "subscribed threads" and, as usual, that was a useless effort. I then found this thread which has given me some idea of what this is about.
I discovered "User CP" a while ago and have used that to see if there are postings on threads I have recently posted on and that was adequate enough so I could avoid further knowledge. I can see how "subscribed threads" can be useful if:
1. I have the option to opt out of e-mails and can find it on User CP,
2. Someone can only subscribe me with my permission (I appreciate the compliment, and would rather have that option).
I now have to figure out how to opt out of e-mails.
A general comment—rules, regs, policies, etc. are difficult to find here. The search "function" is not good. Many times more about how things work can be found on the threads (if I can find the one I want) by reading threads than reading the Forum "official" rules, regs. etc. I think these issues are well known, but I feel better writing it myself.
I went back to User CP and noticed that I could click on all subscribed threads over on the right of the subscribed threads. When I went to that page, there were 61 subscribed threads (it says so at the top of the list).
News to me—I never subscribed to them myself.
At the bottom of the list of 61, there's a box to click on with options—"daily", "instant", "no e-mail notice" plus some others. I opted to get no e-mails—if I could only do that with spam too.
Not a bad option overall, but I am perplexed how subscription happens since I've never clicked on it myself.

You are (by default) automatically subscribed to the thread when you post to it. You can change that under your UserCP, Edit Options, and the box titled Messaging & Notification change the Default Thread Subscription Mode to 1 of 5 different options. To my knowledge, no one else can subscribe you to a thread.
On Edit: You can also "unsubscribe" in your UserCP.
GreatPumpkin & CrawfordGene -- The software glitch that hit us Tuesday night switched a number of members' profile settings. The notifications issue is one of them. It may require resetting your Options, Messaging & Notifications in your User CP as Gene correctly states. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks Bob -
My notifications are right, nothing appears changed on mine. It's just that the "Daily" option had NEVER worked for me prior to last night. Something in the "glitch" fixed (or was it temporary) the Daily notification.

Pumpkin, you are correct. I went back and reread the e-mail and it's bad grammar that made it appear the person who started the thread was the one who subscribed me to it ("You are subscribed to the thread "Corrosion problems with new Airstreams" by Silvertwinkie").
Both e-mails were for threads started by Twink. I was wondering how he did it, but he didn't do anything. He's innocent.
Should the Moderator be required to go back to grammar class?
I too am have never received an E-mail update to any of the threads that I am susbscribed to. I have tried all the options (Instant, Daily, and Weekly) and have never received an e-mail)
Does anybody have any suggestions???
