not being a computer wiz or even very good with them, I don't know the reason to unsubscribe from a post. Is there any advantage, like releasing space or something?

No. When you subscribe to a thread - you can have an e-mail alert of an update to the thread sent to you. If you don't want mail - unsubscribe.

I haven't messed with that particular feature.

However if you subscribe to a particular thread, every time someone posts to it you will get an email about it. If you don't want the emails at a later date you can unsubscribe from it.

I subscribe to threads that cover topics that interest me. Whenever I log in, I hit the Control Panel button up top and it shows me if the topics I've subscribed to have any new postings by listing them for me. Whenever I post in a thread, I'm automatically subscribed and if I chose to not view the thread any longer, I unsubscribe. For me, it is a great way to keep in touch with the threads that interest me.

Hi, same thing, but differrent? I have clicked on "Do not subscribe" and no "E-mail notifications" and I still get E-mails every day. I have clicked everything I can think of off and on and the E-mails keep coming. What I would like, is to receive E-mails for PM's only and to stop all the other E-mails about topics that I read or participate in daily. Help Please!

Uhh, I'm not sure I should suggest this, but it is crudely effective.
If you have "do not subscribe" in your options, and you still get email notifications, try changing you email address in your forums profile. It will bounce somewhere else.
A disadvantage to this is we won't be able to email you if there is a problem with your account.
