Rivet Spell checker... (ieSpell)

I have been using ieSpell (when I remember) to check spelling in text boxes on web pages. It is a FREE browser plug in and allows you to check the spelling by right clicking in a box and select check spelling (it is Windows only I think).

You can learn more on their site ieSpell.com

Please use this thread to help each other with ieSpell...

iespell has a limited capability. not many words in its memory. but gets most of my misspells. and it is a no brainer to use . it loads into tools on the tool bar.

One of the things that you can do is add to the IeSpell dictionary. I have added many of the words that I use on the forum like vulcem, etc.

IESpell

In a resent thread a tool called IESpeel was mentioned. It is a spell checker for Internet Explorer users like myself. I downloaded the tool and it works very well. On another forum that I go to (TundraSolutions) I also use IESpell, but at that site it interacts with the forum. I can right click on a word and check it's spelling or even find it's definition at the Wiki Encyclopedia. At this forum I have to go to the IE Meun bar to check spelling and that is all I can do. Am I missing something or does the forum need to activate this feature?

Hi Richard. This would be better answered in the context of the coming (??) software upgrade. I don't know that she'd know yet but I'll tip this thread Janet's way.

When I reply to a thread I see the little ABC icon at the top of the editor box when using IE with IEspell installed. When we upgrade to newer version of Vbulletin software this will all be moot as it has a built in spell checker.

I tried it again and noticed that I had an activex message that I need to respond to. Now it works just like the other forum...

Thanks....

Vbulletin upgrade

Just remember, Janet, look what happens when you mess with an already good thing. I love your work here!

Firefox for Mac OS X (I have 10.4.10) has a spell checker which can be turned on by going to Preferences>Advanced and checking the box for "Check my spelling as I type." If checking does not happen automatically, right-click or Control-click on what you are writing and select "Spell check this field."

Remco,
I think most of the members on this site would give allowance for someone who's first language is not English. I think you do just fine. If I was to post in Dutch I am sure it would not be readable (FWIW my "other" languages are some French, Spanish and Latin I can puzzle out German and Dutch)
