Spell Checker

If you have read many of my posts you know that at times I cannot get a word spelled right to save my life. I have seen a few posts that ask when we will have an integrated spell checker and I do not know the answer on that.

What I have found on the web is a plug in spell checker for Internet explorer that is free to individual users. You install it, add a button to your tool bar and viola! you have an on screen spell checker. You can add words to it's internal dictionary as well, so some of the odd terms we use can be added and then will not pop up on you when you use it.

Here is the link to http://www.iespell.com/download.php

I like it, please let me know if you do too!

Okay Brett!

If changing "voila" to "viola" is any example, what does it do to "voulez-vous?" You might need if you get any responses....!

I assume it gives you the option to not take a recommended correction. What would it turn Vulkem or Excella into? What do you think?

Your right viola, is OK as is voilà. It will only check spelling, not the grammar or proper word usage. It will try to correct whaa laa to whoa and ala

vulkem Willem

excella ex calla

fun fun fun!

All word programs have a spell checker. Write your post in Word or whatever you use, spell check it, copy it and paste it to your post.

OK, Brett... regarding the VIOLA (a larger violin-like string instrument); is it to MY right or YOUR right or perhaps you meant the viola ON the right as opposed to the one on the left??? Do I have left and right violas?

Are you actually trying to tell me that I'm right? (You're right?...)
I'm soooo confused! I don't know your right from my left!

Sorry Brett... Don't know what came over me... I just couldn't help m'self!!!

Tinsel,

I agree that one way to spell check is to compose in word, etc. and then cut and paste. I am just trying to let members know about a free tool that does not require the additional steps.

Roger,
You so funny! I was trying to make a point that it is only a spell checker, nothing more. It will offer choices for words, but grammar and sentence structure is still at the hands of the poster.

No, really Brett! Congradulations on addressing an issue we'd do well to skate right past. I bet the program would seperate out common misspellings like 'tounge.'

Well I have been using the ieSpell tool for 2 Weeks and I like it.
It can be used to spell check anything. Even those fill in boxes on ebay that you post messages in. Too bad it does not handle grammar, but it is a stable app from what I can tell. I know there were many that were clamoring for a spell checker to be added to the forums. I personally like this better due to it being able to have "my" words added to it and that it is always available no matter the site.

Forums that I've visited with spell checkers on them, seem to be real slow, so I find my self not using them.

As was pointed out in another reply, using a word document does the job and is much quicker.
