In response to your concern there are many things which should be taken under consideration.

One, is the VALUE of input they provide to our community.
While some may think that their knowledge surpasses that of the vendors, one must admit that the vendor has much broader connection to product, old and new. The old comes from experience, and new comes from wisdom built on experience as a foundation. The acceptance of their input is optional to us, and do as you please route, is all yours. For as long as it is Airstream related, it just may be helpful at least to some of us.

Two, is the fact that in the past I have PM'd questions to vendors and always got a response without any sales pitch. This valuable and free service to our community should be recognized and appreciated. Being a business owner myself I know what it takes to respond to E-mailed in questions. Being in the boating industry for over four decades including eight years a head of Technical and Service Department for major outboard engine manufacturer, I still find first time boaters who believe that they know more than I do. They ask for advice, just to have a reason to argue. That is OK with me, but I would prefer not to be asked when they have all the answers to start with.

Three, Be glad that we have moderators who do take time to sort out junk which is not related to our community, otherwise none of us would care to visit the forums. As a Airstream community, all of us in one way or another, contribute toward our enjoyment of outdoors. For as long as a vendor contributes in some way to our community we should support them. Those who do not, can be sorted out and ignored by individual members and eventually they will go away. Thanks, "Boatdoc"

Thank you Forums vendors!

Well said Boatdoc. The forums would not be the same place without their contributions.
Thank you member vendors. I, for one appreciate your contributions to this community.

Perspective is a curious thing. I sometimes wish I just kept my perspective and point of view to myself.

The only thing I have ever claimed to be an expert at is making an ass out of myself.

Andy, when did you say you have the Zip Dee's on sale?

Now I am wondering, Did I ever thank Andy?

I dunno, I am sure I thanked his staff big time. Well, they deserved it.
They were the professionals and technicians that did the work. What
did Andy really ever do besides give me free advice and give me the benefit
of his years of experience. Maybe I'll give him a karma point. ......Nah

Cheap trick

the power of DUH. I get it - 62Overlander was pimping us into realizing the valuable contributions that the vendors make to the forum. Well Done. I've been awakened from my complacency.

Hey 62overlander; Stop beating yourself because I truly do not know any individuals who do not regret one thing or another many times over. We all have done it and it is not for the last time. I think that your comment has just awakened many members into reality. Thanks, "Boatdoc"

I once followed a thread where a vendor and a retired Axle guy had a difference of opinion on what was required to complete a repair. That thread was like a college course as two Pro's discussed the issue in detail and their reasons for the course each was taking.

Thanks to both as I learned a lot.

Who else needs a big wet sloppy kiss? I feel a group hug is needed.

Come on, everybody send a Big Bucket of Karma to your favorite vendor.

Boatdoc, Thank you but I beat myself up for far more than what comes out of my mouth, or through my finger tips. There are few things I regret; I regret that I quit boyscouts one merit badge away from becoming an Eagle scout. I regret treating a girl named Beth badly. I regret trying cigarettes at 11 and liking them. I regret not telling all the people in my life that have died, how much I loved them...
I now know where people stand. I will use more caution in what I say in the future. I am glad that some people are grateful for the service their vendors provide, for the advise they give, and the availability and pricing they provide through this forum. This forum is the right place for that to take place. If I have offened anyone, I apologize to you from the bottom of my heart.
I also now know that there are some people that agree with me, but chose not to state it in a public forum. All the PM's were much apreciated.
So where does this lead me, us, you... I would like to let all of you know that I am a cabinet maker. If anyone is missing any cabinets or needs some new ones built... please give me a shout. I can reproduce any Airstream fixture up until 1972. In 1972 they started using laminates and plastic is not allowed in my shop. I am running a forums special. Just mention the forums and I will do an extra special job for you.

Seems 62overlander was just asking a simple question and 1700+ views and 50+ posts later we have come to a simple answer...

YES!

----------------------------------

BTW, Maryland is kinda far for me and I plan to do my own cabinety, but if you were closer I sure wouldn't mine 62overlander as a friend...as for vendors, I'd much rather spend my money with my friends.

As for the vendors on this forum, I appreciate many of them... you'll all know who you are when I send my money your way.

Have you tried the negative sign? If you want to screen out a word from the google search results, use the negative sign followed by the word you want to screen out from the results.

Using Amazaon as an example...if you wanted to search for the string "bourne identity" and didn't want to see any results from Amazon, this is what your search string would look like:

"bourne identity" -amazon

Oh, since this thread popped up again, I thought I'd add the latest. I started a forum for the local community about two weeks ago. At present, it's just a demo site, designed for the local leaders to look at.

And ... it only took the spammers a week to find it and start posting. I deleted the posts and then immediately altered the registration procedure, which stopped the whole business in its tracks. Even so, it is kind of depressing to think that one can't seem to do anything for the good without spammers.

And without some of those knowledgeable commercial vendors, some of our questions would never get answered correctly. I realize there is a VERY narrow line that must be walked at times to keep the commercial aspect limited, but such knowledge is invaluable to this and other forums. Please continue to read and report when necessary!!

Thanks to all...........for your knowledge and accurate answers!!!
