Search Tutorial??
Is there a search tutorial somewhere? I often do not get the results that I am expecting. I would search for the tutorial if I could.
Thanks,
Ken

best way I have found to search is go to google and, for example, if you were searching for "tutorials" on this site, you would enter "tutorials site:www.airforums.com" but omit the quotation marks... (also note the space between the words tutorials and site) Enjoy.

It really says something when you are better off to use a third party seach rather than the search within the forum. But I found the same thing when looking for my own pictures in the gallery.

I find the forums search function does not work well. More often than not when looking for a past thread I know I have seen or posted myself, I can not find it.
Somewhat related is searching for members. It seems like the majority of members listed have either never posted or are inactive. I don't know if it is possible to set up a policy and procedure for purging the members list.
Not that I'm whining!

Thanks a lot. I used that method and found several other threads about how to post. I think I'm set now.

Ken

To find your own post click on User CP at the top of the page then scroll down Subscribed Threads and click on List Subscriptions. That will at least list you activity in order. It's a pain looking for something that goes back a while.
I have heard of one member that embeds codes phrases in his postings that allows him to search a lot faster. My mind just won't support that system.

Well I feel much better about having a hard time finding anything using the search feature on this forum, as apparently so does everyone else. Its really unfortunate that the search feature doesn't function correctly since there is sooo much reference material available. I guess I will use the Google route, but it would be nice if someone could look into this issue further.
For work I use a forum that uses vBulletin as well and is actually a slightly older version (3.7.2) than the version we are using here and the search feature works very well on it, so I'm not sure why the Airforum's searches don't work properly.
Can't complain though the forums have been a HUGE help the past few weeks since getting my 35 year old, first AS!

There is an option for a nifty google search. If you click search on the upper nav bar there is a drop down menu of search options that includes this option.

every post=same key words!
the subject matter on the forum tend to make us all use certain words A LOT. When I search, I get so many "answers" that I feel exhausted before even beginning. I try to narrow the results down, but it too, takes time.
