rivet under user names- why some users have them but not all

why do some users have a different number of rivets under their names.

i have none.

i tried to search for rivet in FAQ , but no luck

please advise how to enable that to track postings

Hi there. I don't remember the formula but it's based on number of postings. Very important to know - that's sheer volume, there is no evaluation of quality, reasonableness or value of postings. I'm a "rivet master" which only means I write a lot. Most of what I write is useless drivel so don't let the rivets fool you [emoji3]

I think you might get your first rivet at 100 posts or something like that.

Enjoy the forums!

Rivets are a function of post count which is described in the post #17 linked thread below.

Whether your account displays rivets or a custom moniker is a function of your User CP settings as Tom indicates in the post that precedes mine.

Useless drivel, but riveting, just the same

Your "useless drivel" can be someone else's treasured information.

It identifies those of us who are either blabber-mouths... or bored with-too-much-time-on-our-hands.... or come out of a daze at 3AM but don't tweet.

Who cares? Apparently the OP does. This isn't the first time this question has been asked and it is a reasonable inquiry related to his account and the way the site functions.

Posting contest? Did not imply that there was, actually we have rules about padding post counts.

A forum? Noun: "A medium where ideas and views on a particular subject can be exchanged." This also includes answering member questions which is well within the protocol of this forum.

I will also add that we also have rules about being nice and language, you should acquaint yourself with both as we take them seriously.

When I got my "Rivet Master" status I tried to to have my wife address me as "Master." That didn't work out too well, but the swelling went away after a few days.

Be careful what you wish for... when this happened at my house, the master status was called out at dump stations, gas stations and various work opportunities. "no, I can't do that yet.. you are the master; go for it."
