Red face Profile comments vs Personal Message

I have done this a total of three times now and am wondering if there is a way (other than get smarter or be more careful) to avoid it.

I open another members profile and then click on send message. A drop down menu opens with Post a Profile Comment and Send a Private Message.

Just a slight slip of the mouse, and I am writing a profile comment instead of the personal message that I intended. Then I have to ask the recipient to please delete the comment, because if I had intended for the whole world to read it, I would have posted it on the forum.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ken

Yes. Since this seems to be a chronic issue, you could use the drop down menu next to a members post. If you click on a members name in their avatar block, you will see a drop down menu with an option to send a PM. As there is no option there to leave a profile comment, there can be no goof.

Thanks,

I'll start doing it that way.

What a cute cat . It look just like ours.

What do you use to get the nice screen shots?

Just a heads up, if a person has chosen NOT to receive Private Messages it will not show on the pull down menu that Janet displayed.

I use Wisdom-soft screenhunter 5.0. It's a free program. Google search it.

Best,

Nice tutorial Janet. A much easier way to send a PM. This is how I'll do it now.

On a PC, click Alt-PrntScrn simultaneously. That will put a screen shot on your clipboard. Open Paint. Paste your image into Paint; move the fraction of image you want to the upper left and then move in the right and bottom margins to define the image you are keeping. Click 'Save' -- be sure to save it as a jpeg -- you sure don't want to upload bitmaps to the site. Not the greatest resolution for other uses but it posts just fine -- internet is 92 dpi IIRC.

Thanks,

I think you would like Screenhunter better than this. You just click on the program icon that says "capture now", stretch a box around the part of the screen you want to capture, and click once to save it to your desktop or documents file. You define the picture when you frame it, so you don't need to do anything else at all.
And it's FREE!!!

Best to you,
Rich the Viking

With the MS Office 2010 you can paste screenshots into Word and then save as a JPEG and edit them as well.

That's a strong recommendation, Rich. I'll have to play with it. Thanks!
