Private messages

I have just edited my profile in the User CP to allow the forum to send me an email when i receive a private message. I made this change because I don't automatically look at the User CP and just found that I had two messages that were unread by me and getting old. I also noticed that I have sent two messages that were never read, maybe for the same reason.

I only mention this because it has taken me months on the forum to see the need for this change, and I need all the reminders available to look into the cracks and crevasses of communication.

Jim, timely post I had missed a PM from just a little while ago. There is also another setting that will allow a popup window when someone sends you a PM. I just noticed that setting too Live and Learn

65534 Unread messages?

I recently became a supporting member and now I've noticed I have...
65534 Unread messages.
But, a total of 6 (which is actually correct).

This doesn't appear to be causing a problem with the allotted number of messages, but do I have a lot of reading to do?

Yes. Just not private messages. This is an occasional glitch we are aware of, but happens so infrequently it is tough to say we have it fixed for sure.

Speaking of glitches, since the forum name change, my home computer isn't recognized on the forums so I have to log in every time I go to the forums and want to post to a thread...at least the first time each visit. I have confirmed that Airforums is a trusted site and that cookies are allowed.

Also, I cannot click on the link to the reply to any of the threads that I am subscribed to on any computer that I use to open my mail. This has only occurred since the name change took place.

Interesting that 65535 in decimal = FFFF in hexadecimal.

65533 messages for me. I have had that number since the change.
I just take it as a sign of being part of the "in" crowd.

You should be able to see if you have any unread messages at a glance.
Look at the upper right of your screen, right above the "search" and "quick links" in the blue bar. It's always there with the "Welcome FYRZOWT" message. (On my screen)
I don't know if that feature can be turned off, maybe you don't have it. ??

He didn't have it at the time, it is a "new" thing that has been enabled since the original post. We are still having a gremlin that says you have an unbelievable amount of PM's, which is why the thread was brought back from the abyss.

No biggie...I just thought the advice to JimC was falling on deaf ears and you all would want to know ~ we've been through several upgrades since the original post. <slap>

You're right Terry, the gremlins with the PM count are an active issue...

I appologize for this glitch it has come up before and miraculously fixed itself. I have to move AIR to a new server in the next few days. After we are settled into our new server (about a month) it will be time to upgrade all the software that runs our community. So please hand tight and this should be taken care of in the server move or upgrades.

Thanks,

Andy

Not an issue for me. I find it rather amusing. Go have a cold one.
