Old Forums member with question
G'morning,
I was a Forum member for several years a couple of years ago. We have owned RV's for years, but got away from AS two years ago, and bought another brand. (Mistake)
We've just bought our third AS, it's a 2001 30' Excella, beautiful trailer!
I received an email this morning which sounds like I'm a new member, but actually, I did nothing to give anyone the impression that I had "dropped out".
I guess my question is, have the Forums changed within the past couple years, or what?

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle
Welcome back, Larry.
Thing here on the Forums are pretty much the same as they were a few years ago.
The reason that you received a new member welcome is that you apparently used a new screen name. To be recognized as an existing member, you will need to sign in under your old screen name.

Could be, I suppose, but I don't remember changing anything. I logged out and logged back in, and the same thing happened.
It's not a big deal, but just wondering what happend? The old info has to be floating around out there in cyberspace, I guess

Thanks

Hi Larry. I just did a little research on your Forums membership. I did find your past membership number 17379, having joined on 10/22/2006 as a 3 rivet member with 121 posts.
I think that I have determined what happened. When you recently tried to sign in with your old information, you used the screen name LarryC. Your original membership screen name was Larry C. By leaving the space out, the computer did not recognize you as an existing member, and signed you up with the new screen name of LarryC.
Try signing in as Larry C with the space, and let us know what happens.
Brian

Larry - if you click on the contact link at the bottom of the page you can message the help desk and ask to have this newer account and the older one merged. We can reset your password or update the old account as needed to get it set up again.

Hello Larry C
I think since you went away and bought an SOB and then came back to the fold that you need to be a new member forever.
Just joking!
Glad that your back.
You need to bring us up to date on what you have been doing and where you have been traveling. That is the price you pay for leaving.
Did you keep your AirSafe hitch or what?

We've been using the SOB for the past couple years. Other than having 3 slides and 13500 pounds to drag around I will say the large living area was nice. BUT, what a pain in the butt to maneuver in some of the tight campgrounds we stay in,
So,, we bit the bullet and bought a very clean 2001 30' Excella, on eBay,, from Woodland RV in Grand Rapids. GOOD EXPERIENCE!
This weekend we're trying it out.
its good to be back! @

Hi Vinnie,
Sorry to take so long to answer, but we were on a short "shake down" trip for the new (to us) Excella 30 footer. All went well with that, except for a defective check valve on the cold water side of the water heater. Hopefully, I can somehow access it without removing the water heater, it's really close quarters there.
As for the AirSafe, yes I still use it, and it did get a real test with the 36' Open Range, that we had for a couple years. The Open Range, (SOB) had a tongue weight of 1,350 pounds, (I weighed it), and the weight of the trailer the way we usually loaded for a trip was in the area of 13,000 to 13,500. It wasn't a lightweight by anybodies imagination! I had to carry 75 to 80 psi in the airbag of the AirSafe, and put more tension on the Reese DualCam WD, than I ever used before. Sway in cross winds was intense until I got the tension on the torsion bars right. After that everything was acceptable.
The Dodge handled the SOB OK, I was getting (depending on wind and terrain) 10.5 to 11.5 mpg.
Big difference with the 30' Excella, on the trip we just returned from, I average 14.5 over 400 miles.....
We're planning a long trip this summer for a couple months with a big circle from Lower Alabama, to Seattle, and back across southern Canada, or the northern U.S.
Maybe somewhere along the line we'll have the opportunity to meet.
