Exclamation Notice: Software Upgrade Tonight!

Dear Members,

I am sorry for the short notice but I wanted to let you all know that the site will be closed tonight (8 PM EST) for software upgrades. I suspect the downtime to be around two hours but it could be shorter or a bit longer.

Thanks in advance for your patience!

Regards,

Andy

That's something you "never" want to do, in Palm Springs California.

Speaking of backups, folks, I see a lot of those USB hard drives, some up to 160 GB, coming down under $100. Bought one my self and backup my entire C drive with it.

I was at Best Buy last night looking at them, they had 500Gb models for $119.

Hey, the chat will technically still work while the site is down if you just open up that page before I close the site. Don't refresh or the chat will go away and the site closed message will show up.

Would opening the float option now and leaving it open work?

hi andy thanks for the notice....

one of the mods suggested months ago that WHEN this software upgrade happend...

ALL OF OUR THREAD SUBSCRIPTIONS WOULD BE LOST!

---is this even remotely likely or possible?

i sure hope not.

---what version of the v'bulletin are we moving up to?

---does this mean that blogging and other features of the newer versions will not be available?

cheers

If you think this may happen (and with computers and electronic stuff, who knows?), go to your user cp, click "view all subscribed threads", copy the page that is displayed, paste it either into notepad, word document, even an email to yourself. When the "new and improved" Vbulletin arrives, and you find your subscriptions gone, you can reconstruct your subscriptions by revisiting each thread, and subscribing.
If you have to do this, it will be a pain, but you will be "re-upped" for your subscriptions. I'm sure there are easirer ways, but at least this way you will have a copy of your subscriptions, and verify they all came through unscathed.
