Not getting sellers' responses?

Newbie obviously...I've messaged a few sellers with interest in their AS, yet I've never gotten a response. My email address has to be correct as I had to confirm my email at registration. If a seller messages back should I just be getting a response email to my personal address or is there somewhere on the site I should be checking?? Has no-one ever responded?

Thank you! (Looking for 19'-20' range with exact style flexible, max listing price around 35k FYI)

Were you by any chance trying to contact a seller in Tacoma, WA that had an FC19 for sale on RVT? We tried for over two weeks and finally gave up.

If you observe the "Welcome EvegivenO" message in the header of each page, you should see two lines below it, one of which is "Private Messages:.."
Click on that and you'll be taken to the message center.

If you've been sending emails, your emails may have ended up in the recipient's "Junk" box if you're unknown to them.
Don't be afraid to use that old-fashioned device known as a "tele-phone". wink

Where are you looking at the ads? If you're looking on Craigslist, don't bother if there is only one outside photo, no phone number or the price is to good to be true. It's a scam. If you are contacted, they will want your real email address and won't provide additional info until you do. Doesn't pass the smell test to me. And you don't get additional info. Been there.

To be fair, I found mine on Craigslist where the ad had a phone no., dealer name and 10 photos of the inside and outside. And that's after 8 months of searching on Craigslist, Airstream Classifieds, and other sites.

Too bad the 30' Classic with slide at Camperclinic2.com is to big. It's nice. And it's not mine.

This is all too common here. People join only to post ads and then do not have to courtesy to respond to info request or remove the ad when sold.
Personaly I think there should be minimum number of post required to sell or buy. Also a valid phone number should be provided as part of the contact info. This is a normal and excepted requirement on many community forums.

Sorry you had or are having that experience. We had a great experience in our recent purchase which was via the AS classifieds. Seeing all the responses on Forum questions, one should be convinced that AS'ers are a pretty responsive group.

Be careful of some of the RV selling web sites - When I was selling my SOB on Craigslist I sold the trailer quickly, so deleted the ad last July.

I just now did a search on that make, and it popped up on something called reacho (dot com) - with my original photo and my description, pulled from CL since that's the only place I'd posted that info. Apparently some of these sites pull ads from places like CL and other sites and put them up on their site, then never take it down, even though the original source ad is gone. I even contacted one of them to tell them get rid of it - good luck with that.

So that might be another reason you're not hearing back - I wouldn't know if someone contacted me through one of the weird "off-brand" trolling sites, so an inquiry would get no response.

Just as a way of saying THANK YOU AIRFORUMS! ... and as a way of demonsrating how things SHOULD work:

I found our 22' Sport only 80 miles from our home thru these classifieds. It was sold owner to owner, at a very agreeable price, and in very nice condition.

Except for the nervousness of the seller who worried himself to the point of agitation (and me to the point of almost walking away) about whether it was real money that got deposited into his account (apparently he had never transacted a vehicle before and didn't understand how bank transfers work).... it was a smooth sale.
We drove over and looked at it, made an offer, negotiated a few moments, and left a security-deposit check. A week later went and hitched up and dragged it home.

When we were looking, there were several Airstreams of the type we were looking for that sold out from under us. You have to be ready to pounce on new ads each day and have the financing ready. As suggested, it is best to call. We took to private messaging, emailing and calling, if all three methods were given. It took us six weeks to find what we wanted and reach a deal.

I really don't know why you haven't had your communications acknowledged. I have bought two Airstreams and sold one via these classifieds, with zero problems. I responded to EVERY person who contacted me, when I was selling.

There are several threads on this topic, all with the same complaint and suggested cure.

There is an ad up now (well, it was still there a couple of days ago) for a trailer that fits what we want. I called about it more than a month ago and was told it was sold. The seller has posted only a couple of times and gives his address as Florida, but the trailer is in Mississippi.

Thanks all. I'm going to try this and see if the messages are there. If so, sorry to the responses I've "ignored" in my message box!! Yes, I do prefer telephone for this sort of business, but not everyone has their number listed :/

For those mentioning Craigslist, yeah, I hear ya. It's almost unusable sometimes...The same 19' AS is listed pretty much across the entire at least southern US right now with slightly diff photos and slightly diff prices. Once I fell for the whole "give me you email address" thing, but never again!!

Hah yes! Checking it like a schoolgirl waiting for a message from a boy. I messaged BambiTex last night. If I don't get a response...maybe my messages aren't being sent?
