I will be processing all attachments to make thumbnails in rder to reduce the bandwidth we are using. so look for that change in the next couple of days...

That sounds like a major improvement.
Are you going to have to go back and change each picture individually? That seems like a lifelong task

. Or is there a way you can make em all change to thumbnails with one sweep of the wand?

Any idea of how many pictures are posted on the forums? (Not counting the photo forum).

7,000+ photos (not counting the ones at AirstreamPhotos.com)

They should all be done now. If they are not, let me know and I will sweep the wand again. My search engine submission software might have stopped the process?

I may have discovered a possible problem with the thumbnail format O.H. .

I noticed that a drawing that is now in thumbnail, and was very readable before, now is somewhat blurred when enlarged from thumbnail.
The blurring is most evident in the labelings that are part of the drawing.

Is there any reason that when "re-blown" to original size that there would be a loss of clarity? (Assuming clarity originally of course).

Sounds like the JPEG compression is set too high. Perhaps the original images were resampled, along with the thumbnails. Without going into a lot of detail, everytime you save or resave a JPEG and select a compression setting other than "lowest", you'll get that...

That drawing has to be enlarged twice to see the full size image.
One click enlarges it to 378x378 (illegible). A second click enlarges it to full size 640x640 (very legible).
I don't know the technical term, I just know that's how it works for me.

Uh... Rog... I think the technical term is enlarging it twice so you can see the full-size image...

I found it to be a nice feature, as mentioned before, to be able to see them all at a quick glance...

It was the 'now let's see you' thread, which would have taken forever to scroll through,a dn find what I needed.

The new thumbnails are really great! Helps a lot for pictures that were really too big to be posted. Saves a lot of thread real estate!

I get everything but the thumbnails with Netscape; just an empty box where the thumbnails should be. I wonder whether my high firewall settings are causing this.

How come some attached pictures are left large while others get the thumbnail treatment?

It has to do with how the pictures were inserted into the post.

Using an img tag allows it to post bigger. The image is not hosted here and does not use the forum bandwidth. If the image is posted in the thread then it is using space and bandwidth on the forum so it shows in a thumbnail style. It all depends on how you do it.
