I just discovered that this works differently on the portal and on "new posts".
IF I access the thread from new posts, it functions as I would expect it to and as it always has. If I access the thread from the portal, it goes to the first unread post no matter whether I click on the title or the little arrow box.

Humm. I almost afraid to ask this question for fear of getting screamed at by some of the members who will tell me I should know the answer to such an obvious question after being around here so long, but here goes anyway.
I've noticed that some folks here don't have a "thanks" button at the bottom of their posts. Is this a feature that we can individually turn off or is it just for certain members? Is it something I did?

But I'm pretty sure this account is not closed. In fact I'm very sure, but not 100%.
I'll try the search feature as you suggest. Thanks for the tip.

Looks like you might be right. I just did a search on the username and it turned up nothing. Strange how quickly that happened.

i recall craftsman asking 2 have his account closed a few years ago...
in a moment of disgust.
eventually (weeks or months) he opened a new acct and REassimilated.
however POSTS from the first account could no longer be searched,
which was a bummer because some of his really good stuff became harder to find.
i am still not sure how or IF this was rectified...
mysteries abound
cheers

Out of curiosity, does closed also mean deleted? and, if not, can you have an account reopened by the moderators? If it is deleted I can understand why the posts would be unsearchable but if the account was restored there should be poimters to the posts restored with the account, am I correct in my thinking or am I just juggling bananas?

I remember that as well. Craftsman's post are always very helpful and informative. Too bad the individual I'm trying to contact is no longer around. This member has been very helpful to members (and me personally) as well. Bummer.
I might add, 2air, your memory is phenomenal. Thanks again for the help.

the older post could still b read, but only as part of the existing thread.
got no idea about turning on/off and what that does.
from recollection a >5000 post member took a, ah, vacation last year,
and everything appeared to be normal when he/she returned...
again i am NOT fully tuned 2 how the software package v'bulletIN works
cheers

Well, okay. 'Nuther can o'worms is opened. Turns out this member actually has chosen to not receive PM's OR is not allowed to receive PM's. Looks like that may turn off the thanks button. Going to test this theory now.

Tapatalk plugin
Has there been any thought given to installing the Tapatalk plugin to the forum?
This plugin makes it much easier to access the forums from a smartphone (iPhone, Android, Blackberry and some Nokia smartphones are supported.) The plugin is free for the forum, and there's a free version of the smartphone software that lets you READ forums. The version of the phone software that allows creation of threads, private messages, etc. is $2.99.
I have a fairly high-end phone and posting to the forums "on the go" using the browser puts a pretty heavy load on it, I use tapatalk for other web forums and wonder if it might be beneficial to include in this one.
The site is: http://www.tapatalk.com/

A custom app that would work on iPhone, Android and Blackberry? Or a custom iPhone app?

Not sure of this would go here or not but I have a question about the ipad app. Is there a way it can remember where I left from. Sometimes I leave the app to check something on the internet and I have to search out where I left off. Maybe this can be accomplished by supporting backgrounding.

Is there a way to move all the photos that have been added as attachments to threads off into the gallery under my profile?
