bringing this back for updates

I too often have trouble viewing photos posted in threads with an Android phone using the Airforums app. Currently this is with a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, but I also had the same problem with my previous Android Phone.

The problems I have encountered include that sometimes the small thumbnail photo on the message comes in fine, but sometimes it only comes in as a gray box. If I click on the tiny photo, it sometimes loads a larger photo, sometimes nothing. If I click on the tiny gray box it tries to load the larger photo, but is never successful. If I immediately reload the page on my photo, nothing changes, but if I come back to that thread hours later, the photos that previous wouldn't load might then load, and ones that previously loaded might not load. It seems to be a random problem, not something perfectly repeatable. Overall I'd estimate that I can view about 50% of the photos attached to a thread at any time.

I also find it unfortunate that when a larger photo does load on my phone it is fixed at the size of my screen. I cannot enlarge it using the pinch technique expand it to look at finer details. This is about the only case I have ever seen looking at photos on my phone where I cannot enlarge them using the pinch technique. I think this too might be a bug.

Interestingly, photos posted to Airforums classified ads can/could be veiwed and enlarged without problems on both of my Android phones.

I hope this additional detail helps the developers.
I never saw any conclusions or even theories of what is happening. Is this something that is being looked at and considered? It can be very frustrating to have to log in to both the app and the Web site to see a photo. I did discover that if the box is grayed out I can click save photo and it will save to my gallery, but then you have to go through the exercise of deleting them all. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

When I have a problem displaying pictures on my Droid, I go to the settings for the Airforums app and clear the picture cache. This will resolve the issue for a while.

There are two different objects for two different purposes. The picture that will show up in the post is your avatar.

PM any site team member if you have any difficulty.

OK, let's kill 2 birds with 1 post.

For you second question, you can find moderators who are currently online by looking at the portal page (the one that comes up when you open the site, or by clicking the Portal tab.) Each moderator who's currently online shows in bold-face type in the list of online users near the bottom of the Portal page. Also, at the VERY bottom of the page, there's a blue bar with a few links, the first of which is Contact Us. I would recommend using the PM-a-moderator feature, because the email box for the Contact Us link is read a couple of times a day, but a person who's online will receive your PM the next time they load a page.

Now, to your first question. When you click the "User CP" link as you would have done to set up your profile and the profile picture, there's a menu of actions down the left side of the page. The 3rd section is "Settings & Options" and the first item in that section is "Edit avatar". Click that and you'll go to a page from which you can choose several canned options, or choose to "Use custom avatar" at the bottom of the list.

Could we make the PM letters count higher than 5,000? It is a pain to have to divide a long message into parts and wait two minutes between each segment to send it to one person.

Because the email address on the forum private message system does not work outside of the forum and the contacts private non-forum email is not disclosed unless it is sent to me.

Also another major issue is the inability to send attachments within the PM system on the forum.

You could send your email address with a private message. I do it all of the time. Then communicate without limitations. Plus there is more capability to send attachments.

I have done that exchange as the work around to the inherent limitations of the forum email system.

I sent you a PM with some questions about this. It's a known problem if you're using the new mobile app, but I think search is working normally from the website.

Like to see responses here on the subject of dropping posts. Seems mods are quick to close a thread, but slow to address a real issue.

This issue has also been forwarded to the app developers and we are all waiting for a fix and we ask you to be patient as well.
