The code to hide the ad (triggered by that check box) is not in place yet. I will get it added ASAP. I am just waiting for a programmer to get me some code I need to make it work. I'll post an update about this as soon as it's done.

That's probably why the Page Peel was invented (because other forms have become overlooked). I suspect Page Peels will also become less effective with time also. It actually takes up very little screen space and only expands if you click on it. It's designed to be less invasive and take up less screen real estate while still providing an advertiser space to deliver a message.

Sorry, I don't want to go back to this old debate. There was no clear winner then and probably wouldn't be now if we started the debate again. I am willing to listen to suggestions but please do this via PM. I really don't think it's good for the community to get caught up on semantics of things like this.

We have some members who have left as the community grew larger (they liked the smaller size it used to be), we have had many members who have sold their Airstreams and moved onto SOBs. I don't think many left because they felt left out over the Supporting Member label given to those that have upgraded though.

Andy, I don't want to beat this issue up, but it seems to work differently than you described it. For some of us it is not only less effective, it is objectionable.
The page peel does expand without clicking on it, it expands any time your mouse inadvertantly touches it, and it covers up other important items on the page.
I don't mean to be fussy, I do appreciate the work that seems to constantly go into improving the site, most of it behind the scenes.
Thank you.
Dave

Same here - the sparkly/flashy part didn't bother me, it is the "peeling" open every time my mouse gets near it or crosses over it. (Every time I use QUICK LINKS for TODAY'S POSTS.)

This is also a problem with the double-underline ads like the Kontera ContentLink ads tried here awhile back. I also posted how to block them. Ads that pop up on mouse-over instead of only on mouse-click may get higher "click" counts from all the accidental activations, but don't really reflect an interest in the products. The main thing they do is annoy readers.

Once the page peel has folded down and then gone back to the smaller state the links work? I see ArtStream said he was using Firefox 2.0 are the other using this or Opera?

I am a Mac user (Leopard 10.5.3) and I have not experienced the problems others have reported. All the menus/buttons in the upper right corner, including Quick Links, work with both Safari 3.11 and Firefox 2.0.0.14, whether I have AirforumsClassifieds blocked or not.

the link to the classifieds in this post doesn't work in IE unless I hold the cntl key down. All other links I've tired seem to work without this "popup restriction." I get the mouse pointer with an exclamation mark.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/577167-post1.html
is this an intended "feature" for links and not buttons?

The remove Page Peel check box is now working. If you are an upgraded member you can disable the page peel by going to UserCP >> Edit Your Details >> Remove Page Peel in Upper Right Corner (all the way at the bottom).

Thanks Andy. Karma sent. A side benefit, the forums load noticeably faster on my iPhone.

How long is 16183 seconds???
I can do the math, but I think this is a bug ~
When PM'ing just now, I got the following message:
Quote:
1. This forum requires that you wait 120 seconds between sending private messages. Please try again in 16183 seconds.

Kinda like the earlier setting for searches ~ that has been fixed.

Houston...we have a problem!
Okay, now I'm freaking out...I posted post #192 about 10 minutes ago and post #190 about 1 minute ago? I know it wasn't this afternoon...at 2:29 pm, I was in a meeting ~
How come the later one is before the earlier one...hmmm, looks like a clock setting must be goofy, because this one says 2:41pm and I posted it at 8:41pm

Sorry if this has been brought up before.
Did an advanced search for toilets+flange in the Plumbing/Sinks, Shower, Toilets sub-forum. Got back the expected results. The link to the threads takes you back to the general Community Forums page. Tried a couple of times with the same result.
Searched bugs to report the concern and it worked perfectly.
Haven't had an issue with the new software other than this.
Thanks for keeping up with us whiners,
Tom.

Thanks for the workaround on the page peel, Andy.
New problem showed up tonight when I got on. No photos showing up in posts, I only get an "X" in a box. Also no avatars. The thread below is an example.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f315...res-42880.html
Also, for the last few days the site has been slow - both at home and at work.

Maybe View First Unread
"View First Unread" which showed up at some point, but I have no idea when, is a great idea, but when the thread goes to a new page, it only takes me back to the first unread on that page and not the previous one.
I can tell that one of 2 ways: remember the last post and see if the one I'm looking at makes sense, a not very reliable tactic, or always check the previous page, which defeats the purpose.

Are we experimenting with the portal page? Everything is all scrunched together. Makes it kinda hard to see the new threads in the middle.

How about just "Karma posted" or nothing at all

Even here in the South that statement is soppy.
There is another thread at present about karma, and although I did not scrutinize every word, I don't recall "luck" being mentioned.
I would rather just hit 'send karma' and move on without a message.
The keywords remind me of a tale I could share of my early days as a newly married man. The Cliff's Notes would sum the tale up chronologically as "Thanks ... Lucky ... No response".
