No real problems here but did notice a little bit slow uploads of the pages but attributed that to personal computer issues... nice to know that the issue lays elsewhere... Andy!?!
Still having issues here also....thought it was my computer so I cleaned it up last night and it's still delaying when I am uploading pages like SilverToy...I'm sure this afternoon I'll get the 'server is to busy at the moment' message when it gets a little crowded in here.
The new server must be programmed to prevent those of us who have not bought our AIR stickers from participating. I've not been able to read any posts since last Thursday. I thought it was a problem with dear old Quest, but other sites still work. Here's some tried and true advice: "Don't fix it if it ain't broke." Darol
A couple of us found out last night that if you could get in to the site, you could go to the chat room with no interruptions, even if you couldn't post to a thread, or even access a thread. Seems the chat room is on another server (you are redirected from this site to the "chat server" when you enter the chat room).
Last week Andy said he was moving another forum off this server so that Airstreamforums would work faster/better. I wonder if maybe he changed his mind and actually moved this forum to the new server. The types of problems I'm experiencing seem like bandwidth issues; i.e., not enough bandwidth to handle the high traffic rates of the Airstreamforum.
Whatever the cause, Andy runs a pretty good shop here. When you consider that it is free (unless you choose to pay a voluntary subscription fee), you really can't beat it for the amount and quality of information here.
Off my soapbox now.
Jim

It appears we are having hard drive issues and the read/write to the drives is way down causing the processor usage to skyrocket and services to fail.
I am looking at ordering two new servers to be put online by the end of the week. I have already ordered one. My goal is to stablize this server so that everyone will be able to get onto the site and also the experience will be enjoyable until I can move this site to a new server (in the near future).
I have emails into the datacenter about when new servers will be provisioned and will post updates here...
When I type a reply, I always copy the reply every few sentences to avoid losing my work. Opening Word or Notepad is a nuisance, and the right click menu in the reply box does not contain the copy option. However, Ctrl-c works to copy, and Ctrl-v works to paste if I happen to lose the work. For newcomers to the keyboard, Ctrl-c means holding down the Ctrl key (bottom left on my keyboard), and then pressing c.
I hope this helps someone.
Nick.

As I was addressing my last post to newcomers to the keyboard, I should add that before using Ctrl-c, one must first highlight in blue the text to be saved, by left clicking in the reply box, and by either dragging the cursor over the required text, or by right-clicking and selecting "select all" from the menu. If the saved text is to be pasted back into the now empty reply box , left click in the box, and press Ctrl-v, and the text will be pasted back (much to my relief). When carrying out these operations, you are copying to, and pasting from, a virtual Clipboard, which only exists in the memory of the computer. Well, that's how my granddaughter explained it to me.......
