We took the permalink link down as they are only used for bloggers to link to specific posts. They can get the permalink from the link that is on the post number anyway.

As for the other little square icons we will be able to run some searches in a few months to see if they are being used. We can also look at our web logs to see if we are getting any traffic back from those sites. So we have a pretty quantitative way to measure the success of the features. So please bear with us while we test them out.

If I took every thing off my screen that i didn't understand it would be "Blank"

Andy,
Any plans to add others in addions to the four you have now?
I would like to suggest Yahoo's MyWeb.

I wonder if these new icons have anything to do with the forums loading really slow lately? Seems it takes forever for them to open from links in the e-mail notifications for the past few days. Maybe a week or less. It also takes forever for a post to actually post.

Good catch, I hadn't noticed. Shows how much I used them I guess....
And I'm supposed to be a trained investigator. Hmmm

A few years ago, I had to go fill out some paperwork at the police station (name withheld to protect the innocent). I was led through a door emblazoned with the word "Detetives". AS we sat down, I asked the detective helping me how long the word had been misspelled on the door. He gave me a strange look, went out, looked at the door, then went over and asked another detective. Over the course of about 30 seconds, all conversation in the room ceased, as all the trained investigators realized they hadn't noticed the word had been misspelled since it had been painted on the door--5 years previously!
My confidence in them was slightly reduced...
