Need new file type for Uploads

Andy,

Can you add .kmz files to the list as valid upload files? These are an output of Google Earth. It's a geographical bookmark. If we could upload these files, then those with Google Earth (free from Google) could open them and look at sites recommended by other forum members.

Thanks for all you do,

Randy

Good morning Randy. I've got to spend some time with Google Earth. Can you give me some info on the average .kmz file size?

Let me copy your request to the moderators. We will discuss it and come to some recommendation. This is an innovative idea -- thanks!

Good idea Randy. .kmz files and Google Earth are a great resource. I use them for bicycle rides in conjunction with my GPS.

.kmz File Specs

Bob as a comparison, the jpg file I posted on this post http://www.airforums.com/forums/432468-post16.html is 92.6KB. It was generated from Google Earth, by choosing the Save Image option from the File menu. The .kmz file of this same image is 4KB, so there is a good savings of server space. Of course you have to have Google Earth to open it, but that's a free download from Google: Google Earth

Thanks,

Randy

PS: Rich Luhr (Airstream Life) posts his locations as .kmz files in his tour of America blog.

The file extension has been enabled. Thanks for suggesting it.
