iPhone issues
I'm on my second iPhone (4), so I am not new to an iPhone. This past weekend, for no apparent reason, my iPhone started heating up, and lost its battery retention. I am losing 10% of my battery every hour - waking up in the morning with zero battery. Has anyone else had these issues? This is new to me - never experienced this before.

It may be a browser issue. You can get Opera Mini (browser) for it for free, and try it to see if it works.

I've been using the Air Forum app on my iPad with no problems. You might try to delete it and then reinstall it in case it is something as simple as a faulty install the 1st time. The page on the App Store says it is supported on the iPhone as well and requires IOS 3.0 or later; would think you were already there.
Doesn't appear to be browser dependent, only Apple and the developers (maybe) know how all this smoke and mirrors work. :-)

I Phone heating up.
Just a thought on your phone heating up. I hope the previous solution worked, but if it didn't.... A few years ago I put a "nanny-cam" in my house. I could view my house live with my iphone. Soon after my phone got very warm and like you the battery drained as fast as I could charge it. Even the people at ATT couldn't figure it out. Turns out, I hadn't "logged out" of the webcam, and this caused the problem. Whether you have a webcam or something else, an active browser or other function operating in the background may be the cause. Good luck!

The previous recommendation (ping) made no difference, unfortunately. I can't see any active apps, but of course it could be without my knowledge. I have already deleted half my apps - may try to get rid of a few more - just in case.

Same thing happened to my Wife's Iphone. We took it back and they replaced it (although they didn't want to) since we had it for only a few days.

I went to Apple today, and it looks like there was a rogue app running on my phone, draining the battery. They completely stripped the phone of all software and then reloaded the OS. I synched the phone to my Mac when I got home as a new phone so that the same software would not restore the same problem again. So far, so good - I think this is fixing it - yeah!
