How to resize pictures on Vista?

Hi, my home computer has Windows XP and I can resize my pictures for posting, but my wife's lap top has Windows Vista and I can't figuer out how to resize pictures for posting with it. I'm not computer generation, so I need an easy way to safely do this or step by step instructions. [Vista for dummies] Any and all help appreciated.

Hi Robert...

Back from the Jackson 'hill' tonight...

I found a re-sizer that I use for forum photos, called 'VSO Image Resizer'...find it here:

Free Image Resize Software Import organize resize photos- VSO

Go down the page for the 'free' version...

It gets installed so that all you have to do is 'Right click' on a pic, and use their built-in defaults...the Free version is kind of 'clunky', in that it only allows one pic at a time, but it seems to work OK, as I've used it for all my Airforum pics for over a year...

Regards,
Ray

I use windows "paint" program. Just type "paint" in search box and enter it will open the program. Then under "image" choose resize and enter new lower %. Save as new file name, if you want to keep original.

I use Irfanview for resizing and cleaning up photos. It's pretty easy to use, and free:

OPn my windows vista, I click on the picture to open it, which gives me the full screen picture with a black tool bar above it. I click on "open", which gives me choices, I go to "windows office picture manager", and open it, which gives me options to resize it.

I use PICASA by Google.

Just Pick the pictures to be EXPORT and the resizing is done automaticly. Very easy to use and an Album can be placedon line for friends and family.

Why not forget re-sizing and just use one of those image warehousing sites? Then all you do is post a link, which appears as a picture. If the picture is larger than the Windows page that airforums.com allocates, then there is a "click here" box to load the full size version.

Photobucket.com is one of them, lots of space for free, but there are many others as well. And no, I have no personal interest in those sites, they are just great tools.

By the way, Airforums.com should be happy as well, there's no load on their servers at all.

You also then have the option of removing the image later and/or replacing it with another one, something that you can't do if you "warehouse" the photo on this site...

Here's the bay of the park where Henri (our 31' AS) and our boat live. If you use Windows (any version), after you click on the bar to open the larger version, hit the F11 key. You can then centre the photo and fill your screen with a hi-res shot. (Hit F11 again to go back to your regular borders.)

ding-ding-ding! The easy answer!!

Right click on any icon to see which programs on your computer can work on it.

Don't click 'save' after you've resized -- that will replace your original resolution image, figuring you really wanted to change it permanently. Use 'save as' in these situations if you are interested in keeping the original file unmodified.

You can always go back and change it back to original again, my program gives me that option also. Or just do the resizing in reverse.
