How to set up a personal photo gallery

To set up a gallery:

Click the photos tab
> My stuff
> category admin
> add category

Fill out requested info and under parent category select members photos.

Uncheck the box that allows others to post to your gallery.

Then submit by hitting add category.

You now have an open category for your pictures. Use the upload link to add photos. Be careful to add them to your category and not some one else's.

This personal gallery is the one that is linked to in the drop down menu under your user name in the avatar block beside every post.

Is there a way to set up a shared photo gallery. Where people from a rally could all post pictures in one spot?

Yes, set up the gallery as in post one and don't uncheck the box.

I can't seem to figure out how to have my picture (is in there when I click on my username but if I post it doesn't show up) show up when I post. What have I done wrong?

ctalley, if you are talking about your profile picture, I am in the same boat and can't find any info on the site about it.

Do you have to be a member for a certain period of time before your profile picture shows up, or does it have to be approved before it is posted or something?

Every member can add an "Avatar" (the little picture on the left below your member name) to their profile. Here's how:

Your "profile picture" is the larger picture that is visible when you click on a memebr's name and view their "Public Profile". Your profile picture & your avatar can be different. The Photo Gallery is another photo feature that allows you to create photo albumns of all your pictures.
