To add photos to a post - (info about classifieds photos in next post)
Click on reply and scroll down to bottom of text box.
Click "go advanced" add text to message window and then scroll down.
Click "Manage attachments" A separate window will pop up.
Click "browse" Then select the file to be uploaded. Be sure that the photo is appropriately sized. 1600 x 1600 pixels (or smaller) and no more than 3 Meg. Forums software will automatically reduce the size, but smaller size photos will upload much faster. You may select several photos to upload at the same time by repeating the last step.
Click "Upload" After pics have loaded close the pop-up window
Click "submit reply" to mount the text of your message - photos will automatically appear in post.
About attachment storage limits
When you upload a copy of an image file (or other attachment) it is stored on our servers. There are some restrictions on how much can be stored.
Registered members are limited to 50 MB of attachment storage for items posted to threads and posts and 100 MB for files posted to the photo gallery. We highly recommend that you reduce file sizes before uploading them to posts and threads.
Contributing members have unlimited attachment storage for threads and posts. A contributing membership is an annual commitment. If a contributing membership reverts to a standard account, loaded images will still remain, but if you have exceeded the storage limits of a standard member account (50 MB), you may be unable to load more attachments. And remember ... all images loaded to posts (regardless of your membership status) must meet the size requirement above. If they are larger, they will fail to load.

What if the Hokey-Pokey is really what it's all about?

Reason: Updated with new size limits
- Log into the forums and then go to the classifieds page. You may need to log in again (check upper right hand corner for login link).
- find your ad and click to fully open it.
- Look below the body of the ad to see 'user options' - you should see "edit ad, mark it SOLD" and other choices.
- Click on "edit ad". Now you can change the text of the ad or ad photos.
- To add photos click the "browse" box. You should see a list of files on your computer. Select the photo that you would like to upload. Photos are size limited. Be sure that they are 360 x 360 pixels or smaller and no larger than 60K.
You can repeat this process in the subsequent boxes for additional photos.
Be sure to hit "save changes" when you are finished in the editor box.
You should see your ad post immediately.
Photos larger than the size above will not load.

Click on reply and scroll down to bottom of text box.
Click "go advanced" add text to message window and then scroll down.
Click "Manage attachments" A separate window will pop up.
Click "browse" Then select the file to be uploaded.
What is "go advanced"? After clicking on “Post Reply” and typing text, I just scroll down to Additional Options/Attach Files/Manage attachments, then browse and select the photo/s I want to attach.

So, I want to delete a swack of photo attachments I've got but just can't seem to find the way to do it. Searching for deleting photo attachments didn't come up with the answer. A bit more coaching would help. I can probably eliminate more than half of the pictures taking up valuable space for folks with good pictures to load.

Sorry Barry - there isn't a setting for members to remove photos from posts/threads. To do so, would make older posts with photos lose their continuity and compromise the archives where the content depends on the photos included.
Each member is allowed 10MB of direct link photos and an additional 100 MB of Photo Gallery server space. You can also post additional photos using links to your Photo Gallery if you run out of direct link photo space. Alternately, you can post an unlimited number of links to photos using a web-based server or become a Supporting Member ($20 per year) and have unlimited direct link photo posting capacity.
If you need additional help in figuring out how to access any of these features - post a question or let a moderator know.

I just wanted to clean up old photos as there are so many duplicates and I'm feeling guilty about using up the space. And I'm such a lousy photographer I'm a tad embarrassed by some of the ones I have posted in the past.
Second question. Is there a way to be a contributing member with Paypal? If so I'd do so in a heartbeat just because of the huge value I get from this site.
How does one put photos in a specific place in the post, or reply? I seem to ba only able to do this on the bottom of the text. I have seen other members putting photos in the middle of the text...???

I'm all ears on the same question, and also how to highlight only part of a quote

You can do this by using image tags. You can upload the image to a service like imageshack and then copy the URL from them and put that between [IMG] tags. That will work well, as long as imageshack stays in business and they don't disable your image for overuse of bandwidth etc.
You can also paste in the location of a photo stored here at AIR in a photo gallery.
To do this: Paste the url of the image into your post. Then add the following code on either side of the url (with no extra spaces):
[IMG]url here[/IMG]
The image will appear where the url was in your text.
Here is an image from my website

Uwe, you can also do this with photo files on your computer. I did it a lot in this thread. Or as in this next example:
1. In a full Reply window, scroll below to Manage Attachments and add the photo(s) from your computer that you want to add inside the post text.
2. Place the insert cursor in the middle of text where you want the photo inserted. Click the paperclip icon above the edit window and select the photo file for that location. Do this as many times and where you wish.
3. Click Submit Reply.
Cursor location when you attach this way does affect readability. The photo will be along the left margin (as in the attachment above) if I place the cursor on its own blank line. It looks goofy if the cursor is within a line of text and I attach the image at that point. Like this, -- I don't like to do it that way (note: this large image can be clicked to expand).
Cool, hey?[/quote]
indeed! I'm having my photos appear TWICE in my posts and this is a test to see if I can successfully make the photo 1. upload from my computer only, and 2. appear in the right place using the paperclip.. here goes, a foto:
and preview....and...hey, it worked!
by the way, anyone know where I can find me one 'a these vent covers??? I think it's for the hot water heater...
