Graphics help needed at AIR
We need some help sprucing up the place. Periodically members need rally graphics designed or help with custom avatars and AIR occasionally needs design work as well.
If you are willing to donate your time and talent to do a little graphics work on a very occasional basis, please contact me via PM or post here.

Theoretically...
Janet,
so are you saying that once this staff person/mod joins AIR, there would then exist the possibility of getting a photo avitar that elegantly shows the Classic version of the 'tripple axle' that SilverToy happily resembles....? That could be a VERY cool deal!!!! OooooHHHHHHhhhhh!!!! Pick me!!!!!!!!!!!!! OOOOOooooHHHHHhh!!!!! Pick ME!!!!!!! No seriously, pick me!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's my Arnold Horschak impression.... Sorry you had to witness that....
I'll volunteer to see if your 'new person' can help me with this project.... if there is interest at AIR. Let me know!
Axel

That is the hope. One of the the little perks the forum offers is an opportunity for a rally organizer to advertise the rally FOR FREE by putting up a graphic. Right now the Beverly Beach Bash is the only one up even though there are a lot of rallies on the calendar. It has occurred to us that maybe rally organizers need some one to help with design work and of course there's your avatar...
So.. if your willing t share your skill - holler. We hope to have several folks who can do this so that no one gets overworked.

Helping Hand
I will hep as I can. Depending on workload here, I am happy to share some spare time. I have some pretty cool software to help me do that type of thing. Worst case I will break out my crayons and the colored paper with paste. But be warned I have never been good about staying between the lines.

Post a thread about your intended event in the Rally sub-forum. Make your thread title pop, keep it short and content heavy.
Post a rally listing on the forum rally calendar and include a link to your new thread as well as links to information about campgrounds, local tourism, etc.
Design a rally graphic. The forum offers ad space for rallies at no cost to our members. These will substantially increase visibility for your event and improve attendance. These graphics are in rotation on the left hand column on each page of the forum and will contain a link to your calendar posting. Rally graphics should be exactly 160 x 160 pixels, visually interesting and text should be kept to a minimum. If you don't want to do your own design we can help. Contact a forum moderator or PM me for help with this. Or... you could ask one of the graphics volunteers in the thread to help with a design if needed.

As a note the rally graphics on the side panel are great. Very eye catching, and I've learned of a couple of events that I had not noticed in the daily threads so it is very much appreciated.
Thanks for doing this folks, it just continues to make the forums a better place.

I can also lend a hand. I'm packing graphics software and have been known to use it.

Hi Janet,
I'm having a bit of trouble getting around and writing on the site easily. I wanted to write and article about this modern AirStream reno I did and supply some graphics. Could you give me some personal help the first time. I have a narrated presentation available for download and wonder about the best way to include that. I'd like to post a new avitar. I have stories about the maiden voyage of ArcStream to BurningMan 2008. Hope to chat soon at addison@arcsys.biz
I could help out with graphics for others too.
Addison

Hi Addison...
Here are some instructions to upload a new avatar:
Quote:
Choose a picture you like that is stored in your computer. Avatars are limited in size to 80 x 80 pixels or 100 KB (whichever is smaller). Resize the picture to meet the size requirements above using a photo/image editor or camera software. Images that are too large will fail to load and you will receive and error message.
1. Click user CP (control panel) on upper blue tool bar.
2. Click edit avatar on left side menu.
3. Scroll down to the "Custom Avatar" box and click the "use Custom Avatar" button.
4. Click Browse button. A file menu screen will appear and you can choose the avatar file to be loaded. The file name should appear in the "upload an avatar from your computer box".
5. Click save changes.
|
It sounds like you may want to start a blog about your redo and we would love to read it.
To get started on a blog, click on the blogs link on the upper nav bar and then "my blog". Blogs are highly customizable and you can set up multiple entries, categories and they are fully editable. The blogs are perfect to document long term project, or travel experience. You can also attach pictures and embed videos.
We would love to read details of your acrstream project!
