From time to time the site is slow, or a page doesn't open for quite a while. I have thought the server was overloaded, but I wouldn't know a server from a waiter. Websites load in many different speeds, so I don't know this one is so much worse than some, but it does seem slower than average.

Some threads skip around a lot, especially ones with photos, but i have reported this many times and it still happens.

I have a Mac OS 10.4.11 and use Safari 3.0.4.

I used to have them and....they came out with a letter(read that to mean email) that said in effect, if you exceed the download limits per month..You could expect either an extra charge or maybe reduction of service..(implied)
I believe they said the limit was..(for me) 250 gb per month? I never paid any attention to it as I rarely was considered to be a power user..
Not sure if this is your problem but..it gives you another point to look at..

I have the problem too.

Not an expert either...but my Mozilla shows that its advertising thats causing the delay. My ISP is a problem too.....even with DSL I am limited to downloads daily...exceed that limit and I go Dead Damn Slow. If I hang on Youtube any time at all I am exceeded for the day...then SLOW for the Forum. I think MAC is on the horizon.

I read this page, shut page and browser, reopened, reloaded this page... 36 seconds till 'done'. On other occasions it easily reaches 50 or 60 seconds each page, no full frame caching with only applicable text changed, nope. Each a n d e v e r y c l i c k i s a ' w h o l e n e w w o r l d ' rebroadcast it seems...

No multiple page loads while I read one, no fun really for me to attend here with so many scripts calling 3rd party servlets ads and stat counters, etc.. I must prepare myself to even attend to that mind-numbing tedium thus have only visited the repairs page for the last year with a few ventures to the "new posts" page.

I connect through a worldcom backbone link that is rock solid, always the same 49.2 kbps. I would dearly like to take high speed internet AWAY from the web designer and officers of this web site for siz months and see how fast they change forms.

Sure, some would say don't let the door hit my behind when I leave, or somesuch...

I have to admit that's not too good..
footnote.
I've been on this forum nearly since day one and, used the site's software with the numerous server changes etc.. I don't recall a time of having a problem of that nature.

My biggest complaint is...AND I HATE THIS..
When I finish typing a reply or, starting a new thread ..something hic-ups within the system or my computer and...pooof~! EVERYTHING IS GONE into that bottomless bit bucket, never to be return.
I wished there was a click to return to previous page feature and, everything was still there~
