Errors in uploading custom avatar.
Hi. I am trying to download the avatar I am using everywhere else, but keep getting error messages.
It is originally 4 kB giff with 40x40 pixels. When I try to download from the net, or from my computer I am getting message "You may not upload animated images"
When I use jpg non-moving conversion, I am getting message "This is not a valid image file"
Will appreciate any help.
Kris

I'll pm you my email address, if you want to send it to me, I'll see if I can post it, or see why it won't post. Also, the forums doesn't support animated avatars right now.

Any animated avatars were grandfathered in a while ago. We don't allow animations any longer and so, that's why your upload failed.

Got it. Thanks. Looks like the script didn't recognized bmp as a picture. It worked when I converted it to jpg.
Too bad it can't dance.

Either a jpg or gif should work. In the User CP (control panel) on the 'Edit Avatar' page, please note the exact dimension limits stated at the bottom. The pixel maximum dimension is quite rigid -- don't go over. I believe it is harder to fit within the filesize limit with a gif image -- that type tends to be larger. So really -- working with a jpg is all around easier.

Hey Kris - everytime your Avatar does the splits I go "ouch"...
If you want - you can most likely post your image somewhere - then link it via your signature, that will work but is a bit kludgy and since animated Avatar's are no longer supported - maybe not the best ideal...
Why then did I say that in the first place?
