Display picture with your name

How do you guys get your picture to show up with your thread in your identification block? More to the point, how do I do it.

This is all done by going to the above menu bar button "User CP". There you can edit, add and delete most settings that you have mentioned, and then some!

Once in the User CP section select edit profile picture and/or edit avitar.

I got to the profile page. Uploaded a picture. 400 X 300 pixels, 31000 bytes, and got "invalid file" as a result.
What now?

There is a list on that page where you upload that says what file types you can add, also the size and file size. If any of those are either too big dimentionally, file size or not on the approved file types, that could be the issue. If your file falls within all the specs, then I'd talk to a mod and have them work with you to add it. There have been some issue with an update that was done on the forum and I am not sure if this falls under those upgrade issues that photos in general are are having.

hmmm what is the file type? Without looking I think it needs to be a jpeg. I would need to check to be sure. Knowing the file extention might help. You can IM me if you need assistance with this

It is a GIF file. Maybe that is the problem. I tried to post multiple pictures in the classified section and only got one picture to take.
How do I convert to a jpeg file?

Let me see if I can attach the photo to this thread.
Nope.
Got a message that says my file exceeds the 1.0 MB file size.
I guess my pictures have been taken with a camera that is too detailed.
Is there a way to reduce the file size of the picture?

If you have a program like photoshop it is no problem. If you don't, you can try cropping the photo a bit to see if it will reduce down enough to fit the parameters. When I take a picture I know is going to go on the forums, I make sure the camera is set to take the smaller size picture, and less pixels.

The file has to be:
Quote:
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 160 by 102 pixels or 100.0 KB (whichever is smaller).
I use Microsoft Picture Manager (Office 2003) to crop, resize and compress photos.

That little picture by your name is called an "Avatar". Here's how to get one:

You can use a .jpg or a .gif...just make sure the size is right. PM me if you need any additional help ~

Thanks to stream2699, Brad for getting my pictures sized properly.
Thanks to the others who responded as well.
What a great group of people read and respond on these pages.
I am going to miss that when my motorhome sells.

I can't get mine taller than 80 pixels regardless of importing it at 102, any ideas? Also whichever I can't figure out whichever is smaller, what is smaller the dimensions or the file size?? To me that's like saying whichever is smaller your height or your weight. ??? ; )

It can exceed neither the pixel max dimensions nor the 100kb file size. Either one will shoot you down. You're safest with jpeg -- especially if you save closer to the internet display lo-res 92 dpi. .gif files are larger from the start, so be especially careful with them.

This is what my avatar page says Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 160 by 80 pixels or 100.0 KB (whichever is smaller).

My custom note is different than AZflycaster's. 160 x102 pixels . But I no longer have a premium account so the 160 will not work but the 80 still stands as a limit. (I think)

Nope the avatar will not go bigger than 80 pixels. Moderators please try uploading to my custom avatar, you can suprise me with whatever you like. I noticed even when my enhanced account was in force that the regular accounts would have a larger avatar than I could get in height. Try randomly clicking on various members' avatars and you will see their dimensions after a right click on properties. Mine never can be loaded more than 80 pixels high regardless of my sizing them at 102 pixels high as the other avatars.

I plan to reup when the calendar and photo gallery and the rest works.
