Daily pop up take two

For what ever reason, the iPad operating system will not retain pass words for websites like Airforums and every visit requires that the user log in every time one wants to post. Just now, the damn pop up came up four times before I could log in.

Again, I ask as a retired marketing executive, does the aggravation the pop up seems to inspire really create benefits?

I don't need to log in to Airforums each time with my iPad - it remembers me. I did need to reset my iPhone this past week and I know what you're talking about with the pop up airforums ad. It made it hard to log in. What a pain - it just kept popping up. I finally did log in and I'm remembered now so I'm automatically logged in. That pop up was so bad and so different from what I've experienced before that it must be broken in some way. I bet it's a real turnoff for new people.

I just hit the icon on my iPod and I am in. No pop ups no signing in. If I had the pop up problem I would no longer participate in this forum.

That popup has prevented me from logging on when on the airliners wifi many times as well as when on none home wifi networks. Happens with both iPads and iPhone running iOS 9.1.

Do you have the mobile app on your iPad?
I don't have to log in every time. I only logged in the first time.
Look in settings for a feature to save your username and password.
The daily new thread notifications take me to the regular website when I click on a link on the iPad. I do have to enter my username and password on the regular website, but not the mobile app.
I like the mobile app better- easier to use and no ads. It seems faster.

Please check your browser settings. That popup and other login behavior are determined by your devices browsing preferences. We use cookies to remember that you don't want to see the popup, keep you logged in at page changes and other viewing features. If you block or delete cookies at the end of each session you will see that popup again (and also have to reenter password info).

In IOS9 you can check this as follows:

Settings > scroll to find Safari.
Look for the Privacy and Security section
Check "Allow from websites I visit" on the block cookies menu option.

Here's a screen shot:

Name:	ios9 cookie settings.png
Views:	285
Size:	130.7 KB
ID:	252551

If you clear allow cookies at the end of your browsing session you will once again see the popup.

Have you tried the work-around I suggested on the other thread, if only to experience the calm pleasure of having one's patience rewarded?

It works on my iPad Mini and Mac laptop. Not a perfect solution, but better than spawning damnation . . .

The mobile app on the iPad has no pop-up ads.

It sounds like you have accidentally enabled "private browsing" on your iPad.
This happened to me a year or so ago, and I was ready to throw it out the nearest window, until I discovered the setting I had changed.

Janet (moderator): I have my iPhone set exactly as you have instructed, but I get so many popups for the AirForums it is almost unusable on my phone. I get no popups on my computer, so that's where I do the majority of my reading. Those popups are a real pain. Doesn't happen on other forums, just this one.

I think your phone has to be a 5s or newer. I have a 5, and I had to download a separate blocking app. The app sends the ads and popups onto a virtual VPN (a virtual virtual private network?), and off to oblivion.

Even with "Block Pop-ups" on in an iPad Air 2 with iOS 9.1, they still show up occasionally. Perhaps this is an undocumented feature - usually called a bug.

In making some of the changes that Janet suggested, I then run into issues with accessing financial institutions. FYI, I use Safari instead of an app on my iPad.

Again, is the return on the pop ups worth the issues it causes for Airforum users?

I have the same issue using my Android tablet. It is a Nexus 7 but I haven't tried saving the cookies. I will try this for sure as it is really frustrating to have to load a page then hit the stop button before the popup can be loaded/triggered.

As I have commented on another thread on this subject, this is far and away the worst site I experience in terms of pop-up frequency. I really don't believe users should have to go through several steps and alternate settings to make it tolerable.

But it is what it is.

I don't even begin to get it.
The mobile app for iPhone and iPad (iOS) and Galaxy Note (Android) have no pop-up ads.
Those who are having pop-ups must be accessing the regular website from their mobile devices, not the mobile app.
Go to iTunes or Google Play and download the app. No pop-ups and easier to use/view.
I agree that the regular website is pretty crappy and archaic, but the mobile app works great.
I just got an idea- I'm gonna attempt to download the app to my iMac.
