Colton RV Pop Up

Anyone else getting a new pop-up window from Colton RV over the last couple of days before logging in?

http://www.coltonrv.com/?utm_source=...AirstreamSites

Mac laptop with OS Sierra up-to-date, running Firefox 53.0.3, where I thought I had pop-up ads disabled.

Admins and Mods, are you aware of this pop-up from Colton RV? Is there some way to toggle this off in my User CP?

Thanks,

Peter

PS -- The site also seems to be using more video advertising too, which seems to slow things down a lot, and even freezes my laptop at times, forcing me to Force Quit Firefox. I clean Internet Cache and delete cookies very often.

PS2 -- Edit -- OK maybe I just turned the ads off?
>User CP
>Settings & Options
>Edit Options
>Miscellaneous Options
>Vendor Ads On/Off -- "Off"

Is this correct? Thanks [requires a Premium Account BTW]

I still see a moving image to the right, and the Colton RV ad. Should I turn off the entire right column in the User CP? This drastic option would seem to be counter-productive in certain respects (cutting off useful info) but if this is what it takes to stop the pop-ups . . .

Yes, losing the right column definitely seems to help! [also requires a Premium Account FYI]

In addition to popping up before login, the Colton RV pop-up also opens a new window when I am logged in, even though I did the two steps in the User CP detailed in Post #1:

-- toggle off ads
-- remove right column from displaying

There must be some way to stop this thing? I thought Premium Membership was supposed to take care of annoyances like this.

Thanks,

Peter

Curious whether you are also getting the Colton RV pop-up before and/or after logging in?

Thanks,

Peter

Dan, in Windows 10 can you toggle on a setting that blocks pop-up ads? Our Firefox is supposed to accomplish this, but the Colton RV ad is still the first thing that happens before I log in. Efforts at blocking it in the User CP setting here haven't helped apparently.

Is anyone else getting this pop-ad from Colton?

Thanks,

Peter

PS -- Memo to Colton RV -- the pop-up ad certainly discourages some folks from ever doing business with you . . . just sayin' . . .

Thanks Bob, I just updated to Firefox 54.0 (64-bit), and the Colton RV pop-up is still happening.

Is is possible that your 32-bit configuration is why you don't get it and I do?

Anyone else getting this pop-up?

Thanks,

Peter

Peter, interesting. I have the ver (32bit) as that is what the tech loaded at the original install a few years ago. I'm not sure I understand the difference either. Maybe mac OS vs Win 7 could be a contributing factor in the 32/64?

Good luck

Thanks Bob. I reviewed Mozilla's help page re: pop-up windows, which indicates that Firefox is not able to prevent all of them, so the solution is probably only something which airforums.com can do.

PS -- Now running Safari on the Mac laptop, and the pop-up did not pop up! Is there some kind of "end run" is going on with Firefox? FWIW

Anyone else getting this annoying pop-up ad from Colton RV?

Thanks,

Peter

PS -- And tons of cookies coming along with it!

I've never gotten it. I'm on a Mac laptop using Firefox. I also have a couple of ad blockers running.

Thanks David, what ad blockers are you using? I had thought Apple's OS and Firefox would took care of things like this.

Thanks,

Peter

Adblock Plus and Ublock Origin here, on the latest version of Firefox. I have never seen the pop-up.

Colton rv ad that constantly pop up....

I cannot stand the constant pop ups from Colton Rv. Using my iPad this is the only website that regularly opens a new tab going to the Colton rv site. I wouldn't buy something from them because of the pop up. How can we stop this?

It only happen in airforums on my iPad.

Today is the first day that the Colton RV pop-up has taken over my iPad Mini.

Normally it just opens in a new tab, but today it seemed to prevent any Airforums windows from opening up correctly. Instead I get this URL:

about:blank

Peter

PS -- A while ago I downloaded a couple of ad blockers for the Mac laptop. Maybe it is time to do so for the iPad?

PS2 -- Janet have there been any changes to this Colton Pop-up situation in the last day or two? As I said above today was the first time it seemed to take over my iPad Mini.

Thanks,

Peter

I'm with you. I'd be hesitant to trust a dealer that needs to be in your face all the time.

I have been seeing an ad from Airstream of Tennessee, that opens in the way you described.
I've sent them a few emails using their "contact" tab on their webpage when it opens, promising I will never set foot in their business!!!

Hasn't stopped the annoying ads, but made me feel better.

Maybe if we all did this they would get the message?

One could only hope

Maybe just maybe Colton RV pays for all the website hits redirected from his site. I am not sure how all that works. It is annoying and I go to click on a topic and Colton rv tab opens. I goto page 2 of a topic and it pops up. I read four threads and I have 12 Colton RV tabs.

I don't know where Colton RV is but I don't wish them well.
