Lightbulb Classifieds Update

I just wanted to let you all know that I have been working on the classified system today. I have moved it over to another domain name so I could move it to another server to fix an issue of blank emails being sent out. The new domain name that the classified system will run on is AirstreamClassifieds.com.

I still have a lot of work to do to get the site looking really nice. So please be patient while I get that site dialed in. I will post updates as the bugs are ironed out.

Thanks for your patience during this move...

Regards,

Andy

Note of Gratitude

Andy,
Take as much time as you need. The service that you provide all of us who visit here often to "window shop" for our dream Airstream or Argosy owe you a debt of gratitude.

It appears that links to contact sellers are not functioning correctly. This is being reported up the line.

Okay -- The classifieds don't recognize your log-in at the main AIR Forums website. To use member features in Classifieds log in there at the log-in link in the upper right corner.

Likewise, logging off at classifieds doesn't log you off of AIR Forums. We're feeling our way forward. The new features look great -- and easy to use in more ways!

well the ads DO look nice.

i'm a little confused now about these sites and names...

there are now separate? sites for airstreamarticles.com and airstreamclassified.com and airforums.com

is all the gyration about using the full a/s word no longer an issue?

are we gonna need to log ON to each of these separate areas and MORE eventually?

it this about server stability or more invasive tracking of users or selling off parts?

is something more/different in the works?

just picking up some odd vibes on the what's up fish detector...

cheers
2air'

also i now notice a new set of links down below the tracking globe.....way DOWN THERE....

some are links to the same air site, others to new sites

and 'airstreamcentral' which inlandandy purchased 2 years ago, but now appears to be a vacant/dead/available domain name?

interesting.

The new classified format is really appreciated. This is easy to negotiate.

The classifieds is the only other place you will have to login/logout with your AIR password. The other sites like the Airstream Articles is not integrated with our forum system. The authors will have seperate accounts setup in that system.

In regards to the domain names, this was done to move this site to another server. I picked up various domain names in the past and this is part of leveraging them. Since the software that runs each site is not highly integrated, I wanted to leave them less modified so I can make software updates more easily. So if they are on different domains, they look like different sites and having different look/feel is more normal then having all this setup here on AIR and trying to keep it all looking the same after every upgrade.

I acquired AirstreamCentral.com from Inland Andy last year. It will become a portal page with listings of upcoming rallies, new articles in the article system, featured ads from the classified system, and RSS feeds from other Airstream related partner sites. Basically create a really simple portal with content being pulled in from all around as an easy way to keep up with what's going on.

Inquiring minds want to know but I can't let all the tricks out of the bag right now, that would be no fun later. Stay tuned, lots of good and interesting stuff to come.

Andy,

Not to rain on your parade, but it appears that the distance function is still not working correctly on the upgraded classified site... any plans to fix it?

Thanks for the update...looks nice.

Yes, can you describe in more detail what issue you are having. It works for me but I am in the middle of the USA (Dallas, Tx) and it seems to be working. I need as much info about what's not workings so I can try to replicate and then look for a solution.

Hmm. 577 miles to devoman in Florida? Under 200 to Airhog1 and Andy R's locations from me. It does show 1800 & 1900 miles to some California units -- that's not far off.

Can you do one thing before I escalate this to see what's up. Can you check your cookies for one that starts with airclass_? If it's there, please delete it and then submit your zipe code again. This still will remove the "wrong cookie" as a possible issue and allow me to pass more feedback to them when I open a ticket.

Thanks in advance...

I can't find the airclass_ cookie on my PC under "C:\Documents and Settings\Anne\Cookies", but some of the mileages from 30060 (Georgia) do appear incorrect. I'm using IE 6.0.2900.xxxx on SP 2. I was prompted to enter my zipcode at the new site.

93 miles to Michigan:

Airstream Trailer & Motorhome Classifieds - 1978 Airstream 31' Excella - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

111 miles to Indiana:

Airstream Trailer & Motorhome Classifieds - 1972 international - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

But these are closer:

113 miles to Wedowee, AL (It's 90 miles)

Airstream Trailer & Motorhome Classifieds - 1971 sovereign international - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

91 miles to Colbert, GA (It's 90 miles)

Airstream Trailer & Motorhome Classifieds - 1966 Caravel 17' - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

Hope this helps.

No "airclass*.*" file but I did delete a zipcode cookie listed for Airforums.com and Airstreamclassifieds.com and re-entered my zip yielding the same results as I listed above.

Nothing on my computer with a file containing airclass. I purged cookies & cache anyway. I'm still getting 173 mi to Searcy AR, 196 mi to you, 577 mi to Devoman (FL), 266 to Austin TX; 1623 to San Bernardino CA but 1995 to Stephrobrts in WA -- sounds like the California distance is too short.

That's the info I needed (thanks to the others also). I will report the issues to the software vendor and hopefully find a solution.

Oh man, we are going to sell out of upgrades in no time with this new benefit. With the cost of gas, everyone is going to want to take a AIR wormhole to their destination!

Now I'm a little disappointed in the results of my classified ads.

If I divide the total value of goods sold by the number of items sold, the average value of each item sold was over $11,000.

That's better than eBay!
