Chinese characters in banner ad space

Occasionally I see the entire top banner ad space filled with what looks like Chinese characters. I've run a malware scan on my pc.

Anyone else seeing this?

Just kidding. That's Google Translate version of Chinese for "I don't see any Chinese characters."

Not on my office or home computers.

At home I use Windows 8, Norton 360, and Google Chrome, with popup blocker and ad blockers. At the office it's Windows XP, McAfee, and IE8, popups blocked but no ad blockers.

If you're both using something different than I am, that might be a place to start looking for the cause.

I use a Mac and haven't seen it.

Those ads are placed by an external vendor, I believe, and they're based (crudely) on your own browsing history.

I have had messages come into my junk mail folder with these characters.
I feel you will being seeing more and more of it.

I have not seen any of that here (the chinese characters), but I get a couple of emails almost every day in what appears to be chinese. They fire my anti-virus/spam software right up. I assume they are just more of the chinese government sponsored hackers hard at work.
