This forum is owned by one guy, Andy R, who started it becasue he needed to fix his Airstream. I can't think of a better recommendation for a forum. That the forum just happens to be one of the best online promoters of Airstream Trailers, given the domain name squabble, is ironic. One of the things that makes this forum so great is the willingness of the members to share their experience and knowledge. That wealth of knowledge will help the rest of us keep our highly cool trailers on the road and most likely, encourage new trailer sales as well.

Thanks for all the support and kind words. Nothing should change around here other then a couple of months of slow down in new member registrations. Our licensing agreement with Airstream, Inc will remain in place and we will continue to follow all the terms set forth in that agreement.
So don't worry too much about this name change. All the wonderful people that make up our community (you all) are staying the same, so a rose is a rose by any other name!
It's the people and information that make us special, not our domain name!

For those of us who are not computer smart, do we need to do anything, or will be automatically directed to the new site??
Best,

You will be redirected.
If you are a windows user, once there, you can click on "favorites" at the top of your screen and then "add to favorites".
Then next time you want to visit, open Explorer and select AIRForums.com from the list and click.

I was on the Airstream.com website tonight. There is an "Airstreamer" tab that talks about an email service and "Airstreamer Forums". That's new, right? They said they were updating their site..... hmmmmmm

Nope, super old. Their forums were shut down because they had been SPAMed and had unsuitable content (links to porn).
As for the Airstreamer email, I am not sure what happened to that. I guess some people are using this? I really doubt they can be making a profit with that service. Does anyone know anyone using it?
The events section is especially robust! Also note that there are 10 Airstream for sale on the first 3 pages of their classified section that are less then 5 years old. I have never seen used vehicles for sale on manufactures site before. I personally think it is great (shows that they keep their value and there is a good market for them) but if I was a dealer, I might wonder why people were being offered used options on the companies home page?
We are the only licensed forum with Airstream. It would be nice if they actually pointed their page to our site instead of telling people that their site "is currently being updated to improve performance, ease of use, and will be available at a later date".
For that matter it would be nice if they ever mentioned our community at all. Two years of having a licensing agreement in place (being partners) and all they did was promote other sites (many were not even partners). Oh well, sorry about complaining, I am just bummed about all the work tomorrow to change domain names. You would think they would embrace us for the value we have brought to their brand?

Andy, I for one am happy that you are willing to go to all the trouble of being the webmaster/owner for this site! Very few people would go to the trouble of keeping everything up to date and running as smoothly as this Forums site does... Regardless of the name. Thanks again for caring and doing a great job with this site! Karma to you! Sincerely Ralph (BIGED52) Carver

hi andyr
the forwarding worked fine BUT...
i just deleted old a/s forums bookmark and logged out...
used airforums.com and logged in again...
got this message
"In order to accept POST request originating from this domain, the admin must add this domain to the whitelist."
so now going to the bookmark airforums.com doesn't take me to the forums...
and once there the login user id/password is NOT retained.
retyping user id/password take me back to the quote above....
and the original a/sforums.com url still shows up above....
what did i do wrong?

Bingo. The domain transfer isn't quite complete - but should be in a few hours. In the meantime this one still works.

These Forums are such a great resource for anyone who wants to learn more about Airstreams. If Airstream, Inc. had an ounce of sense, they would link these Forums to the Airstream Company Website. These Forums promote more good will and sell more new Airstreams than the company website and WBCCI combined. Airstream, Inc. is missing the boat by not courting these Forums. If they were smart, they would actively participate in these Forums. The same goes for WBCCI. Each had (has) its own forum. Neither was (is) a viable place to learn about Airstreams or exchange information.
This is the "Airstream Place" thanks to our founders and moderators regarrdless of the URL.

Ok, now we are switched over to the new domain name but we will still be working on many little items through out the day and weeks to come.
I will be starting a new thread with more detailed info with tips and tricks on how to best handle this change. I will also be setting up another thread for errors, bad links, etc so we can fix them. With time we will be back together again.

The redirect is working for me, but I had to re-enter my user name and password, lucky for me I could remember the password.
