Water heater door replacement?

We went to pick up Sylvia (66' Caravel) after having been in the shop for a year. We told him to take his time but I've been impatient. Since we had a flash flood in Feb. it was a good thing she wasn't here!
She had new axles, shocks, replaced bellypan, repaired the floor and rerouted the gas lines that were hanging down.
Anyway, it was the first we have towed her and we thought it went well except when we got home we noticed our water heater compartment door was missing. It didn't seem original to the unit anyway, but now what do we do?
Didn't we have enough to deal with? She's a major fixer upper.

Replacement water heater doors are plentiful. What brand of water heater do you have?

I have no idea. The missing door is the outside compartment door on the skin.
I'll be loading my pics.

check the airstream site. they have some nice stainless steel replacement doors. If you do not want to spend that much then Atwood sells replacement doors, I think, in white or al.

Would they sell in non-anodized aluminium? Not interested in anything that doesn't look original. I did finally post more pictures.

Thumbs up

Jerri,

Looking at the photo it appears as though the hinge pin's are bent.

Give Andy a call at Inland RV, see if the door, spring lock and hinges are available. The stainless replacement doors from Airstream don't come with mounting hardware.

This is how the the stainless replacement looks...not from AS, got it from Williams AS in TX, don't know if there still available.

Thanks!
I just saw this on restoration thread. I'm determined to find one as close to original as possible, but this gives me a few leads to check! I refuse to use metallic paint!

Airstream now has a whole line of stainless steel upgrades, including water heater doors, on their store website: https://store.airstream.com/index.php?cPath=65

Worth check out, anyway.

On edit, the water heater doors are shown as out of stock and to check back later. They are a new addition to the online store, so they probably will be getting more.
