Streetside window treatments for 1966 Caravel 17'

I am restoring a 1966 Caravel. The goal is to refresh, using period appropriate finishes and fabrics. I am currently working on the curtains above the streetside gaucho. I have decided, after much research, to use the original curtain tracks along the top. But because the tracks on the streetside windows sit a good 2 inches off the wall panel, the curtain panels hang about 6 inches off the wall along the bottom...and that visually tends to bring the wall in and make the cabin feel more cramped. I don't want to use a bottom rail because it tends to make it more difficult to open the curtains, and I want the breezes to be able to flow when the curtains are pulled. There also is the issue of privacy created by the large, triangular gaps between the curtains and the side wall.

I wondered if any vintage Airstream owners have dealt with this issue and have come up with some ingenious solutions? Thanks!

Search around. I am sure that velcro has been used on the bottoms of the curtains by somebody. Velcro can be riveted onto the wall as well as glued. Just a thought. I used the lower rod idea when I rebuilt the Caravel and it works, just is a PITA.
