I just bought my 1st A/S Caravel 1967. The outside is pretty good, the inside had its share of yellow jackets, carpenter ants, and water leaks. I took some pics and will post them at a later date. I started to remove the beds and cabinets, went through the floor on a rusted out frame cross brace and knocked the belly off in the front. Can anyone tell me how to get the furnace out? I pulled the outside rivits and the inside screws, the unit is loose but seems held together by the flue pipe. Any tips on the floor replacement, cross members repairs, and any other thing that should be done whils its torn down would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Gene

Welcome to the Forums, and the world of owning (and restoring) and Airstream..

As a new registered member here, you have access to a powerful search tool in blue bar above... Just type in key words and hit "GO" and watch the threads or chains of messages appear...

"Furnace" and "remove" might take you to several other owners' messages who have yanked theirs out already...

Learn to try different combinations, and even to try advanced searching... I believe there are several hundred thousand searchable messages, and it's getting harder and harder to be the first to have a problem here...

Remember also you can return to user control panel and check for replies later for the threads you have "subscribed" to...

I am sure if you do a search on heater removal you might find what you are looking for... sorry to say I do not have that answer!

I am posting the link to my hubby's thread that shows the process we went through to restore our 1963 Bambi. You might find answers in the future to questions that come up... he has lots of pictures, etc. to help explain. It is a long thread, so grab a cup of coffee and check it out!
