I found it odd that the license plate holes on my '67 Caravel
are more than 7" apart (top, horizontal). I first thought it was just a change in the standard, but when I got a 60's vintage plate recently I saw the bolt holes are also 7" apart.
I researched and apparently the US adopted a standard 7" spacing in the 50's. Did trailers used to have unique license plate hole dimensions from automobiles? I don't have the exact dimension between the holes on my Caravel
in front of me, but I think they are at least 7.25" to 7.5" apart at the top...
Perplexed... Am I missing something? Sincerely
doubt that they mis-drilled the holes in Jackson Center years ago...
