Kismet
I have parted with my 69 Caravel. Its going to Monterey, California to live with my brother and sister in law.
Heres a great story...
Yesterday on their drive out here to Texas to pick it up they decided to drive down thru Riverside, Calif. a look around the area we were raised. In the late fifties and early sixties we lived in a house on Seventh Street in Riverside. Yesterday, on a whim, my brother decided to show the Bride where he was raised. As he drove around the old home he came across a nice Caravel and another Airstream parked in the alley/back side yard of our old home. Nearly floored him. No one around to talk with but on the way back with his new baby he will stop for a chat. I hope it belongs to a Forum member.

Grrrreat!
Melody Ranch, I have sent you some Karma for making your brother the recipient of your '69 Caravel. I hope they enjoy it as much as you have. Happy Trails, Ed

update....I am envious!
Well, there was a tear in my eye as the Caravel rolled out the ranch gate. I hoped my Brother would enjoy it.
Boy DID HE EVER!
In the year he has had it he moved it to Monterrey, California.
A trip to South Texas again and to Mexico;
a return to Calif via the Grand Canyon North Rim;
a trip to Washington State and Vancouver and back;
a trip to Utah, Moab, Arizona and return;
another round trip to South Padre Island by Brownsville, Texas;
a cross country trip to Virginia Beach, VA...south route there and the Blue Ridge Trail to the South and then;
back here (now) to North Texas;
tomorrow to South Texas and Mexico;
next week to Oklahoma for a music festival;
the last week of July to Levelland, Texas,
on to the Vintage Rally in Colorado and then home to Monterrey.
I'd say that the Caravel has a good home.

Did he ever get a chance to meet the Airstreamers in your childhood home?

Wow! Thanks for the update. I've been wondering about trailer sites in South Padre Island (Brownsville) and Mexico. Especially Mexico. Do you know far down into Mexico does he travel?

re - update
Ref the two Airstreams in Riverside. I never saw a Forum member claim them or make comments on them. I did use Google Earth and looked at them myself. Yep! they are right in my old back yard.
As far as Mexico. I may be letting the cat out of the bag here.....Best kept secret is Victoria. A French Colonial city, previous Capitol of Mexico, a short drive to the south, tucked between the Gulf and the Mountains. In those mountains above Victoria is a protected temperate rain forest...Cielo.

Thanks for the hint. I've found some really nice little towns within three hours of the border myself. IMO Mexico is a well kept secret. Of course the rumors and news help to protect the treasure.
