Thanks Paul for the tips on attaching photos. When I get some blue sky I'll bring my camera out for some better pictures. That's probably when I'll start a new thread and seek expert opinions on what's not original for future efforts. My friends did tell me that they hope I will keep her as is, not polished. But the after polishing photos like Paul's make them oh-so-dandy looking. Already at a crossroad without even going camping once, haha.

It's such a torture to rely on 26.4k dial-up from home when there's so much info/pics out there.

Stan: yeah, my driving was already rehabilitated by the vintage VW busses prior to towing trailers so I am happy with 55mph. Much lower blood pressure and more time to see the views.

Ricky

Barkingdogg, Thanks for posting all the pics. Your Caravel looks wonderful. That motivates me to get back out there and work on my Caravel!

Barkingdogg, your trailer looks wonderful! Makes me want to get out and go camping too!

However, of all the caravels I've ever looked at, yours is the first I've ever seen with the square ceiling lights mounted where the reading lamps would be. Did you do that yourself, or did a previous owner do that?

Hi Stephanie, lights were there when we got it. I know they aren't original, but they do seem to be some sort of older fixture.

I am HOOKED!!

Just got my new 66 Caravel...and its a Keeper...about the only thing I will do to it is give a polishing. Now I have 3 in the drive...a 63 Bambi 16' (my daughters), and a 60 Pacer 16' (that's for Sale). The Caravel is in excellent mostly original shape...interior and exterior; even the original tile flooring has been reconditioned to new. Can't wait to get it polished, but will re-polish my daughters Bambi first...its been 3 yrs. since it was restored...Should have the Caravel polished and ready to go to the 50th International this year. I will be with the Vintage Group. Hope to see some other Caravels there. Here are some Photos:

Hey Guys...Thanks for all the info and beautiful photos of the "adorable Caravel". We searched for two years and in New York State...Not too many Airstreams.

We finally located our Globetrotter. Still think the Caravel is a super little Airstream.

Globetrotters aren't a whole lot bigger, and the same basic layout. Little trailers are fun, aren't they - and so darned cute!

65 Wagoneer and 65 Caravel

Here we are last summer coming back from a Car show. The 65 Wagoneer has the original 327 AMC Vigilante in it... Enjoy! It's the wife's - if she owns one, I have her buy in!

Your Caravel looks really nice and I know you'll enjoy it.
I have had people on the forum say I should probably replace my axle even though it has a positive angle when looking from behind. They say you should be able to see the top of the wheel below the wheel well opening. Yours looks kind of like mine where the wheel well is below the top of the wheel. I have not experienced anything negative when pulling my trailer.
Do you plan on replacing your axle?
