$1000 polish job... your thoughts.

Could be better, but a fraction of what I was quoted (three times as much) elsewhere.

Speaking of '66 Caravels, there's a really interesting 1966 Airstream on eBay now, the Carnival!! (Cue the caliope music) Yess-er-ree, folks. Step right up and take a look at this! Rare he says... is it ever!

There's no mention of this in the auction, but there looks to be a bullet hole in one of the pictures!!! Other than that, it seems to be in pretty good shape.
The Great Wally Gyam would approve.

I thought that too....but if you look hard you can tell it's the rubber doorstop.

Another fine polish job has paid off handsomely. $15,100.
Not bad, considering it's even missing a corning window in the front.

Caravel

All I can say is ... I miss my Caravel even more now

Oh and one of my favorite sayings "some people have more money ... than brains. I have little of both."

Let's see, a zero feedback seller, and only two bidders from $8200 up; one with zero feedback and another- Skullcrusher, the winner !, with two feedback, kept private.

How do you spell "shill", anyway?

Shill? maybe or ..

Now you don't think it was something like that do you?

That would be bad Karma

But very possible.

Having had to lose a similar Caravel ... It would be worth that much (almost)
to me to replace it.

A decent condition Caravel unpolished can fetch 8-9K throw in a 2K+ polishing job, axle, tires, flooring, etc etc etc ... your almost there.

airstreamcaravel,

I won't try to judge what a particular coach is "worth", especially on e-bay where it is hard to clearly see condition. I have on occasion hazarded a guess about where an auction will wind up and have almost always guessed low.

But, to me, this auction stinks. Even if the price were not extraordinarily high by my admittedly cheapskate standards, the bidding up of price by a phantom (if, as I belieive is the case) invalidates the result. It is even possible that both the high bidders are puppets and this coach may be back on ebay soon, as the infamous WYWO pincushion was, with some lame-ass explanation why.

Hate to be so cynical, but when the champagne corks start flying after these auctions, I've just got to pipe up.
