Oh by the way you are one of my inspirations! I do enjoy working on the caravel and the frustrations are minor. Still gotta add some pics soon!

Okay pic 1 shows bucked rivets not through the support. We erecected a scaffold that we eventually become a new swing for the grandchildren when the airstream is done with it. the stiffener is held on with 6 rivets which i did not think was enough until i missed 1 rivet on a pannel and found out how well they hold!! the side panel will be replaced when the shell is reattached this will remove the 2 pop riveted patches from I am guessing a blowout, and the heater vent (not ptting the heater back in). the stars on the top are a mystery to me? and last but not least on of the 12 or so corossion spots so there is going to be a lot of clear coat in the inside of this puppy. gonna replace the aluminum wiring and repair the end cap (probably remove the shelf or at least the rest of it).

My I suggest that you soda blast or walnut blast the corrosion. Then epoxy prime the area. otherwise the corrosion will just come back. Clear coating the corrosion will not stop it.

Quality control was somewhat lacking, check out my thread below for some more QC issues

Cliff,

I love this Caravel. It is beautiful. I can see all the potential! You have done a lot! I can't wait to see it come together. When will you get the Overlander? Do you plan on using them both?

As far as quality control it generally gets off course when management demands more production and reduced cost! Does not make the production crew happy but you have to pay the bills.

Your interiors look good. My pink stuff didn't come out as clean as yours did. Well, your insulation is not pink.

Nope not pink but just as big a pain in the butt but it is almost all gone! The overlander is not for sale yet! Guess it has not sat long enough yet and yes we would use both caravel on short weekenders to 5 days and overlander for a week or more. With two traveling dogs the caravel would get really small fast. Told Jeannie that the caravel was the escape pod and the overlander would be the bug out vehicle!
