Keeping an Airstream original or with the factory updates, usually pays many dividends.

Good luck on your Caravel. As you work on it this weekend we'll be on the road with ours. I was happy to go out and test all it's systems this week, after not having used it for a year, and found everything to be functioning perfectly. I know you'll be enjoying yours on the road again soon too!

Stephanie, I am going to get more done and will hopefully be using it soon thanks for then motivation so far i am having fun! Val I like old style and I mis worded it to Andy calling it a restoration. We are restoring the caravel to a usable condition but we are also making it more modern day comfort for us by updating the power, water and furnishings. Ordered most of what I need for the frame today but need 1 (curb side rear wheel well outrigger) and may need more once we get into the belly pan. Stephanie do you know where we can get outriggers for the caravel? Out of doors mart only has the larger size.

Would also like to move the ac forward so we can reinstall the vent! Looks like they cut a larger opening for the ac!

The original small outriggers are no longer available.

You have 3 choices.

1. Have them made.

2. Use the larger outriggers, but cut them down.

3. Find a salavge trailer somwhere and have what you need removed.

Andy

Okay so I poppe off the access panel for the black tank and the panel fell on me which was not bad but the roaches got excited then killed. The frame looked pretty good but more work to remove the drains so I can get shower pan out! Pics comming soon. Obtw I ordered the wrong rivets from aircraft spruce. Need a rma number!

Now I know why you must have patients when taking a 47 year old airstream apart! Well have a goal date of August for finishing up and we will make it but I do understand why there are so many gutted airstreams out there. We love what we are doing and that is why we will finish the job. I really do call it an adventure and still want to do an overlander!
