We had a rally on Galveston Island, but it was in a municipal park just on the outskirts of the city. Wind blew like fury for the 5 days we were there and the spray rusted all my padlocks and other non-aluminum items. Galveston is a great place to spend a few days; especially if you can be there for the Xmas on the Strand.

No visit with the trailer to Padre Island NP yet, but I have been there several times by car.

Galveston has fireworks off the beach on New Years eve.
State park has full hookups; Padre NP has no hook ups, just dump.
Padre offers an opprotunity to commune with nature, less to no crowds this time of year.
