It is, indeed, very cool. Same size bath as the Overlander. Not sure how we'll like sleeping next to the stove, though. So far, all my trailers had a "bedroom" of some sort, or sleeping compartment.
Ummm, so, now that you won't be needing your Overlander any longer...
Seriously though, I do have to admit that I really would love to see another total overhaul thread from you, since the last "63 for me" thread was just so incredibly entertaining and inspiring. But, I'm selfish like that...
That is just like our last one too. (I used to go by 63gt). I would have hung on to that one if it had a new floor! Great layout. You may be spoiled, but we didn't have trouble at all with the design. In fact, we moved on to a 65 Caravel with a new floor and axle. Same layout concept, but shorter and lighter. Living on the right coast, we need light and lean to go west once in a while.

PM me if you need another deal on foam.
Best of luck with it.

John, I have to tell you that the foam you suggested for the Overlander is absolutely, positively, Divine!
You really know your stuff, John!
Speaking of light and lean....I tow the Overlander with a 07 Suburban now, giving me about 13.8mpg.
towing the Flying Cloud wasn't any better, at 2000lbs less.
I am anxious to find out how the Globetrotter affects towing mileage.

Well, the overlander has weaseled it's way into our family in a way that's really special. It has been a great travel companion for the last 2-3 years. The environment inside and outsided is just hard to explain, it simply fits, and lives and tows exceptionally well with my half ton Suburban.
The Globe Trotter is an experiment for me, in a way. I always wanted to try a smaller trailer on for size.
As far as Area63, there is a dear client's very neat Ambassador in the works, and the next personal project will be my 58 Flying Cloud.
I bought the Globe Trotter because of the fact that it is 98% ready to go, an won't require a lot of money or time to take it camping.
There's a new axle and partial floor, and all the appliances are reported to be in good working order...other than the dump valve seepage and the tires.
i think the flying cloud might get a little jealous, but i hope not.
can't wait to see what comes out of area 63 next
The Cloud needs to deal with it.. Like it's my fault that it hasn't been repaired yet. Geez, we'll tell the Cloud to cool it...
Yikes, they're parked next to each other...sure hope there won't be any unexplained gouges in either of them...
My plan so far is just tires, a little paint on the tongue and bumper, repairing the old dump valve, and cleanup.
btw. does anyone have a clue if how, and why the old cast metal dump valve comes apart? The trailer is not close by, I'd like to go prepared when I go to fix it..
What a great find. I have always like the GT size & layout & almost bought one about a month ago...you know, one for the kids!
Check the pictures by forums member wagsrp. He shows in detail how to overhaul the brass dump valve. One of my coworkers (a tech) used those pictures as a guide to overhaul my dump valve. If you need the details I can get them in the morning.

Disk brakes? : )
Love those Globetrotters! Any grey tanks?
I've been thinking of a "couple" trailer just for Mona and I.
Can't wait to see what you end up doing with it!
