Cool Lorelei our '62 Globetrotter

Today marks the day of confirmation that I'm suffering from Aluminitis. How did I make it 40 years without an Airstream, let alone TWO?
My dearest Dad called me about finding it on a local Craigslist ad. I have agreed to purchase a "mostly" present 1962 Globetrotter in rough shape. Here are the pictures that I have that were sent to me by the seller. A really nice guy that lives just across the road from my folks.

So now we have a '72 and a '62. I might be looking for a '52!? We're excited to get her home! Thanks for the find and all your help Dad!

I think one from every decade is a reasonable goal in life....not obsessed...normal....

Congrats on the acquisition.

Thanks! I'm not sure I can hold off starting a restoration on her until after I finish Abby. I made my promise, though. I guess I need to fill out my registration card for the dwad club now, huh?

Lucky so lucky!

You had great luck to find another Airstream. They are about as common as hen's teeth up here. I look but don't see much at all and if I find one I think would be perfect, they are in California or some other far away place. I would be in big trouble if my better half knew I was looking for another one....it will be our secret, right?

I might have to make a road trip to Texas to find another one too once I dig my vehicle out of the new 10 inches of snow we got on Tuesday and Wednesday. Keep up the good work and I will follow your progress on your new aquisition.
Sandy

Hen's tooth

Thanks Colin and Sandy! Yes, the legacy trailers....can't pass them up now can we? Sandy, I guess you could call it a hen's tooth, because it is from "up there" Maybe even the "acorn" I seem to have found. Now to do some research, and start preparing for the tow home. Fortunately my Dad has volunteered to tow it here. I'm not sure he knows what he's volunteered himself into

Yesterday my wife asked me if I had ever heard the Scorpions song "Lorelei". I hadn't but it became clear to us today what to name our new girl. I told her it was a sign.

Lorelei

It's a good name Top. Otherwise you wouldn't have named it after two different songs from two different bands!

Thanks for bringing me back to my younger days Steve. I saw Styx in Montreal in 77 when they were a back up band for Bad Company. This of course was one of the songs we listened to @ a bazillion decibels while "cruisin" in our beater cars & vans with Stereo's worth more than the vehicle
These guys moved much faster back then too .............as did I.
Colin

Top......................Great choice!

Thanks Colin. Funny how things just pop out of nowhere sometimes. Nice videos Steve.

So what is the proper tire size for this girl?
205/75/15 LRD or
225/75/15 LRD

It will be a long tow to Texas and I don't want my Dad to have to endure any tire problems.
Thanks
