Split rims? How long were they OEM equipment?

Currently in process of finalizing deal for a 1973 Tradewind (25-feet) that is about 300 miles away- mostly interstate. Seller says it will need new tires before going far. Any thoughts on if this would have split rims or not. If I knew it had single piece rims would drive up and pull old tires/rims off and get new tires at local tire store, check bearings, brakes, and head home. Have access to F-250 dually so functioning brakes is not a real concern - just don't want any hanging shoes. For new tires thinking of something like 225/70 or 215/75 - suggestions welcome on this as well.

Looking forward to this project.

Not sure when they quit using split rims, but they were not in use in 69 so you will be ok with your 73.

The standard tire back then was 700-15. These are usually replaced with ST 225/75R 15.

Load range C or D although I would favor the D.

Good luck with the new project
