Need Help New Carrier won't fit.

Just got a call, I'm being told the inside control panel is too thick (by an inch or so) to fit between the ceiling and the door frame, that holds the folding door. Read lots of post, have not seen anything like this. 74 25 Trade Wind. Advice or suggestions ny advice or suggestions

I know exactly what you're talking about. Just lower the rail that holds your accordian door. You'll probably need to cut the door length a little but you really have no choice here. It's either do that or buy another A/C unit with a smaller indoor profile.

Mike and Mike -
I had the same issue with my carrier. The solution is to modify the cross piece. I had Zep driving the jig saw, I was a little gun sly at first. I trimmed it up later with some automobile door protector from auto zone. I would like to get the shorter rail that I have seen in other 70's, but this works well. Removing the cross piece would be a major job. It is trapped by the cabinets and there is no simple way that I can see to remove it.

Richard, your rail mounts different from mine. My rail is suspended across the walls by two brackets. The rail simply drops into the brackets and can be removed just as easy.

Mike, if your rail mounts like Richard's then you might have to modify it like he did. If yours is like mine, it won't be hard to lower it. Are you having Dillion's install your A/C or some other SOB dealer in the area?
