Need help locating VIN?

Hello All,

I have looked for a VIN...read on the forum here that it is usually stamped on the tongue leading to the hitch. there is indeed a number stamped there but it is only 7 digits long...might be longer but is blocked by something else that doesn't (currently) move.

the visible part reads: 66 41020

does this look like the entire vin?

the corner plate with the weights does not contain a vin....

thanks!

There's not a VIN on a plate riveted to the skin just forward of the door?

Here is the format for the '75 Tradewind -- the four lines just below "1975 Tradewind 25' "

forgot to ask, the serial number on that corner plate with the weight info...would that work as the vin?

i originally supposed that a non-motorized trailer would not even have a VIN...

L - Land Yacht
25 - length in feet
D - Read bath double bed
5 - year build (1975 in this case)

There were no VINs until 1981, when the standardized Vehicle Identification Number became law. Before that, everything was manufacturers' serial number, with multitudes of layouts, sequences, and formats.

Oh, THANK you so much!

I read elsewhere the vin would be a 17 character sequence and i couldn't find anything near that long anywhere on the Riveteer!

Thanks so much, am searching for a towing company and that is an item they want. Found one company, btw, that says they won't haul anything older than 1992. Hope this doesn't become an issue.....

Thanks again!
