I have looked for a VIN...read on the forum here that it is usually stamped on the tongue leading to the hitch. there is indeed a number stamped there but it is only 7 digits long...might be longer but is blocked by something else that doesn't (currently) move.
the visible part reads: 66 41020
does this look like the entire vin?
the corner plate with the weights does not contain a vin....
yes, that plate gives the serial number....is that the same as a vin??
serial number is: L25-D5J-1373
There were no VINs until 1981, when the standardized Vehicle Identification Number became law. Before that, everything was manufacturers' serial number, with multitudes of layouts, sequences, and formats.

I read elsewhere the vin would be a 17 character sequence and i couldn't find anything near that long anywhere on the Riveteer!
Thanks so much, am searching for a towing company and that is an item they want. Found one company, btw, that says they won't haul anything older than 1992. Hope this doesn't become an issue.....
