My new Airstream - '76 Trade Wind

Hi Everyone! I am a Airstream newbie...just bought my first one Thursday!

I have read so much great information on here, and have seen many examples of what to look out for when buying an Airstream. I knew to take my time, look at more than one...checking them out stem to stern, looking for hidden damage and faulty systems.

Such wonderful advice.

What did I go and do? Looked at one, liked it, and bought it! So much for prudent planning!

Time will tell whether I have a beauty , or a pig in a poke ! But no regrets!

It's a 1976 Trade Wind. It looks to be in pretty good shape, with original carpet and upholstery. A little musty, but not too bad. No bad dents. Looks good.

I am excited to finally have my very own Airstream, and will post pics in a few days!

David

Tradewind - good choice! Of course, no bias here... Go out and enjoy!

Well, I went to visit my Airstream...I haven't taken possession of it yet, will probably leave it stored right where it is for the time being. Took some pics of it.

Whew! Hope I didn't bore y'all to death, but that's her in a nutshell! Didn't have the keys with me to take pics of the inside, but those will come soon!

She's not too pretty, but not too ugly! They all hide secrets, some grim, so I know I've got some work to do!

New TW

congrats on the new Trade Wind. I'm a little partial to them and love my 72.
I've done a lot or reworking on mine so if you need so advice, can help with some of the things you are going to go through. Bought mine a little over a year ago, mostly have done interior reworking. It was in great shape when I got it and now it's even better.

Good Luck!

New Trade Wind

Looks pretty similar to mine, cept you have the Vista View windows and an outdoor utility outlet. The interiors changed quite a bit in the mid 70s.
I even have the same wheels, though mine are new.

Exterior looks very good for a 1976, especially the belly and wrap.

Congratulations!

Yes, that's a sweet looking coach! The outside needs little more than a good wash, a few strokes of the wirebrush and a lick of silver Rustoleum! That's normal maintenance for me!

Hey Y'all!

Thanks for your kind words for my neglected Airstream. Maybe I haven't bought a "pig in a poke", after all.

RichHog, I will be taking you up on your offer for advice.

My VIN is L25T-6S0390, so it is a California-built unit. I just looked that up on here!
