Just introcing myself

Just wanted to say "Hi" to all you fellow Airstreamers. My wife and I bought our first A/S about six weeks ago. It's a '74 Tradewind 25'. I am exited about trading info on this site.

Interesting story: I went to Delaware on August 23rd to pick up my new baby. On the way back, at 2:00am, I recieved a call from my wife saying that she was going into labor. UH-OH. I had another baby (our first real baby) boy at 4:18 August 24th. (Yes, I did make it back in time)

Footnote: Just checked out your pictures and, it looks great~ The damaged rear is an easy fix. The A/S dealer there in DE. can fix it for you or you could take it to the factory in OHIO. Might cost, maybe, 1k tops.(what it cost me to have one replaced this summer). It should clean up just fine~ You might look into your tanks tho, I know Virginia doesn't require OPD yet..right? But, when you travel, you could run into other states that do. Again, congrats.

We have a 1971 Tradewind, and love the size and amenities. Your bath is diferent from ours, and yours still has the tambour over the refrigerator counter, which is missing on ours.
Well, good luck with baby boy! He'll love going out in the Airstream - our kids do!

Thanks for the warm welcome. My boy's name is Barrett. Hopefully I will be able to post a picture of both babies together soon.

As far as the rear panel damage, it will probably be a while before it gets fixed. I promised my wife that I would not "invest" much money into the trailer for at least a year. I'm afraid that I will have to deal with it for a while.

As far as the tanks. Do you know a good source for aluminum 30 lbs'ers?

Welcome , glad to see another Tradewind aboard, sorry so late in posting but I have been away from the post for awhile.Hope I can help in anyway!Oh btw my Tradewind also had the sideways tambur above the fridge, butttt I found that it used up too much valuble counter space ,so I removed it and put it in safe storage.The microwave now sits there perfectly with room to spare !!!!!!

Yep...I'm in central Virginia too, and had great luck with Emerald Isle for my new 30lb. aluminum tanks. My very nice originals decided to check out the underside of the trailer at 65 mph....sadly. But at least my new tanks already have the OPD valves, so I guess I solved a future problem.

Congrats on thw two new 'babies'. So you named the hatchling 'Barrett', what did you name his older aluminum brother?

Hope you have as much fun with yours as I have with mine - er - child that is. Mine daughter is 9 now, time does fly.

Hi all,

Barrett and his big brother have both been in our family for 17 weeks now. Barrett is doing wonderfully. He has already doubled in size.

We have not named our trailer... yet. My wife isn't that type of person... yet. She has slowly been warming up to the whole Airstream experience.

We have gone on two weekend trips, (Williamsburg, VA. and VA. Beach). We have just decided to leave on the 27th for our first long trip. We are heading to Boca Raton, FL, then working our way north towards Orlando, then heading back home. We will probably stay the night in Savannah, GA since it is about half way.

If anyone is on 95 between the 27th and Jan. the 5th, keep an eye out for us. Also, we would love some sight seeing and camping tips in those areas.

Pat , I will be heading north on 95 on the 27 of Dec from Fl. ,you might want to consider an alt route once you get into Fl. .... lots of constuction on 95 south, seem like more than 50 miles worth , its not all that bad but if you can avoid it I would! I will keep my eye out for you on 95 I am heading for the DC area W/O my A/S.Are you a WBCCI memeber yet and if so what are your numbers ?

Sorry that it has taken me some time to get back to you. It's been a fun filled weekend of Christmas shopping.

I am planning to scope out a route today. I was planning on taking 95 all the way down. I am not familiar with FL so I don't know of any other routes; but I will check into it. I'm open to suggestions.

I am not a member of WBCCI yet. I have been meaning to join since I got my A/S four months ago. My trailer does have someone elses number on it though. #9269. Keep an I out for me and flash your lights if you see me. I have yet to pass another A/S while traveling, but I am alway watching.
